As for it being selective commentary - I completely agree with you. There were two good chances I left out for Accrington. As you will appreciate, we are Exeter University Radio so it does focus more on the Exeter chances and it can only be a couple of minutes long.
I didn't think about posting on away fan sites until after the edit so in future i'll make sure to make the edit less biased when it isn't only being used in house. I'll take that as constructive criticism!
On the match - I'm surprised someone said Maguire was disappointing. I thought he was incredibly isolated the entire match, but boy does he hold the ball up and run the channels well! Looked a good player at this level to me.

Well spotted did,nt go yesterday but I have seen enough off Maguire to totally agree with your comments excellent player for a young lad at this level hope we can keep him all season.

Maguire to my eye looks like another Almond. A willing and eager lad who'll run around all day and will take the odd chance but who will not make the difference between mid-table and play-offs. If, as you hope, we keep him for the rest of the season I'm sure it will make West Ham very happy; they get a season's worth of games for their player.
Meanwhile contracted players sit on their backsides on the bench with little or no chance of improving.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
Maguire was good yesterday. Remember in the first half the flick around his back for McCarten? Darting through a tiny gap in the box and getting a cross in? The pressing in the first half that set the tone for us pinning them back in their half?
The reason Coley didn't change it was because it was working! We were creating chances, keeping the ball pretty well and looked like getting something out of the game if we got a goal!
Liddle played well, yes he does get forward which can leave us short. But him getting forward means we create more and Hunt doesn't push on too much so we do enough cover at the back.
Yes, they were out on their feet. But like I said, remember the pressing in the first half, that takes it toll. And its a balancing act between fresh legs and the fact that our players were doing well in attack.
Finally a word about Joyce. I think he's playing very well at the moment!

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
Have to disagree Potter, after our equaliser Exeter put us under the cosh, half the side were out on their feet, and it wasn't just the pressing first half that took its toll, twas the fact some of the lads had been off ill also, It was crying out for fresh legs simple as.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
It was only the last 10 mins where we were put under pressure and that's bound to happen away from home to a good side.
Coleman's not a muppet. In his head he would have been balancing the fact that they were tired against the players we actually had on looking dangerous all afternoon.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
The sourest of sour grapes here:-
"Re: Exeter City V Accrington Stanley Match Day Thread
As for Accy, horrible team like they've always been. Don't give me all that nonsense about how we should be like that - we shouldn't, it doesn't work and it's not good to look at. We're better than them and since they've been on our radar from the Conference days by and large we've always been better than them with better results, better crowds, better positions in the table and better to watch. But they are a horrible, ugly team who deserve nothing. I hate seeing refs do nothing about petty niggly and snidey fouls, shirt pulling, time wasting, kicking the ball away, running off with it when it's the opposition's throw in or free kick - no wonder their crowds are dreadful - who wants to watch that each week. However, they took their goals well and we should have had the wherewithall to prevent them - I felt for a particularly incensed Hamon when the second went in as he was the only ****** who seemed interested in trying to prevent it.
So a disappointing day all round. We should have won it easily, we certainly had enough about us to win it easily, but once again our frailty when faced with a pub clogger bully-boy team is exposed for all to see. Man up City FFS."
I think they are still remembering and moaning about Cav's brilliant tackle which took out one of their forwards down there in our Conference winning season!

Whatever the opinions on Coley's tactical qualities, you have to admire his and Jimmy's great ability to motivate the players he puts on the pitch. Unlike t'other fella!

No he hasn't, you've misread the bbc stats ....
The 13/14 is total shots...
Shots on target Exeter 3 Stanley 6
That's not a smash and grab to me.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
Does anyone else think we are dirtier than other teams? Just looking at yellow cards from yesterday. It sometimes seems referees pick on us or is that my rose tinted glasses?

Read 20 pages on Exeter Blog a few fans said the ref was great and gave them everything,we got bookings for non fouls and Exeter got away with murder we didn't even get a free kick for a double footed lunge that must have been verging on a red card.Plus a Blind linesman who can't see a hand ball right in front of him.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
You lot keep saying it was Exeter on top second half/last 10mins when all the match reports say we were on top first half and you second half. I'm just making the point that different people see the game differently having been criticised RE the stats.
Didn't think the ref was terrible, but wasn't great. There were one or two yellow card worthy fouls from your guys but nothing major that would make me call you a dirty team. Certainly didn't here other Ex fans calling you that where I was. There was just quite a few niggley fouls which I thought came from your players pressing so well.

If our travelling hordes were singing "We're dirty northern baskets" as per usual, the locals might have become confused and believed them ......
