Hmm, I had trouble finding the station after that session, Wynonie. On the train home, in my semi-comatose state, I had visions of a club-wielding Fred Flintstone charging onto the Crewe pitch, followed by Morph and some pole-dancers, all headed towards a large, sweating, crease-necked steward who had Jimmy Bell on the ground in a half-nelson.

Bloody odd what too much beer can do to the brain, eh?

Yep, I suffered similar hallucinations, too. That ale in Crewe is lethal!

Re: Favourite Away Days

Been some real shoite holes following stanley. Best aways in memory are
Woking 05 - going up
York 05- going up (massive following and great result) even though we were apparently infiltrated by rovers and burnley according to the yorkies. Revenge attack etc etc
whitley bay early 90s - 15 perhaps of us on players coach for a cup game in the midst of winter on a tuesday night. Blackstone give me a sausage roll which I pucked up
Prescot cables early 90s fa cup premilarly round - Darren Lyons hattrick (Great stanley player)
Many others that had cow sheds all round but these stick out.

Re: Favourite Away Days

Used to enjoy Rossendale utd away. They had a much better ground, better team and probably more fans as i remember. What happened ? Even though EW left with a bitter taste just shows what was acheived and where stanley could be now.

My 1st ever away game also sticks in my mind.

Colwyn Bay about 1997/98 season.

2-0 Win with a Brian Welch screamer I seem to remember

I had to go back again this past season; my post-match bus wasn't till 10:25. And what else can you do near Gresty Road on a Tuesday night? Lots of very friendly customers in there.
