Re: Fleetwood Match Thread EFL Trophy
Enjoyable game yes Fleetwood were better in large parts of the game but when we played quickly out from the back with first touch passing which led to the second goal we looked decent, work in progress Edwards gets a mention he played well better defensively that Johnson who could possibly be played in midfield Savin, Carvello and Finlay played well.

Don't get me wrong, it would be so difficult not to go but if I disagree with the format of the whole competition as vehemently as I do, I'd be a hypocrite to put those feelings aside just for the chance of a day out at Wembley, just couldn't do it

There's a spectrum isn't there.... at one end is the football fan purist who believes that not going to Yeovil for a reserve match on a cold winter evening is an act of betrayal against the club. Anyone who fails to make the trip is not a true fan.
Then you've got the fan who will only go if it's Chelsea at home in the FA Cup and doesn't care what others think.
And on another dimension those who are guided by principle (hate the owners, hate the format, hate commercialisation etc) and those oblivious to that sort of stuff.
I seem to be able to glide along these two dimensions as circumstances arise. Consequentally, I'm not going for similar reasons as Accymad... until we get to Wembley when I will go and at the same time be able to shake my head in despair at my fellow travellers remembering that they probably weren't at the 3-2 defeat at Stevenage away one tuesday night two seasons ago.

What’s are your impressions of Sherif before the sub Cashy?
To me his positional sense was very poor, constantly standing in the wrong place having no influence on the game.
Admittedly he was up against a very good Fleetwood midfielder, but the difference between his influence and Finley’s was like chalk and cheese.

Re: Fleetwood Match Thread EFL Trophy
One other thing I’ve noticed with Hughes distribution; He is far more accurate and generally provides better quality of passes (weight of pass and height of pass) when he plays out to the left hand side as opposed to the right hand side.
Not are if there is a heat map or stat map available that can show if my observation is correct.

wasn't over impressed Dav. but the subbing was sensible to me, was sure the ref intended to even thing up.

Re: Fleetwood Match Thread EFL Trophy
I don't like the inclusion of the U-21 sides either but that wouldn't keep me away from Wembley (or the Crown if I lived oop north). But the powers-that-be will only realise they've got this wrong when two U-21 teams reach the final and get a gate of only a couple of thousand, if that.

Re: Fleetwood Match Thread EFL Trophy
I didn't like the format when it was introduced but I went to a game last season and went last night teams now taking it more seriously Fleetwood put a strong team out and progressing money to be had not to be sniffed at by clubs like ours.
Agreed, like everyone else I don't like the inclusion of under-21's, but it's a handy source of income for us and I thought Tuesday was quite an enjoyable match - was particularly impressed with Savin. As the gate was just short of a 1,000, I reckon more people are coming round to it, too.

Agree with this fully. They have been so lucky with the "dream" final last year and some massive sides making the final in previous seasons.
Good luck with the crowds if Liverpool U23's play Chelsea U23's in the final

Exactly the reason why i go to these games, its the only chance of Wembley realistically, and I wanna go! I couldnt boycott the tougnament but jump onto a final.
Cant wait for a Stanley v WBA under 21 final in front of 3000

looking at tuesdays gate against the mk dons one then percentage wise i think stanley fans have warmed to the competition more than most other clubs fans have. even before andy holt asked fans to support the competition our gates were actually above other clubs which is a rare event in itself.
