Re: fleetwood town sack boss
Mellon's sacking comes with Fleetwood currently sitting in seventh spot in League Two, just 10 points behind leaders Gillingham.
The club said in a statement: "Fleetwood Town wish to announce that manager Micky Mellon's contract has been terminated with immediate effect.
"We would like to place on record our sincere appreciation for what he has achieved during his time with the club."
There's more to this than meets the eye ...........that's not the 'reluctant farewell' you give to a favoured son whose time has come...............best description for that is "curt" .........In the playoff spots? Oh come on!

yes but beaten at home by a lowly club and looked well out of it, also out of the FA cup so if they have banked on getting to a money spinning 3rd round tie, then more fool their board. I like the way Accy's board do not guarantee cup runs so don't think they guarantee any money in the coffers. Can't see Leam being invited to apply, not been a league manager long enough. I suspect they will go for someone with experience at league one and two level. Might be the catalyst for getting Rob Atkinson back?

But do you don't, surely to God, sack the man who's been there 4 years, got you into the League, was your first full-time manager and has you in the playoff spots JUST because you've lost 3 in a row - even embarrassingly, and even including losing to us - and because you go out of the Cup to a team lower down your own League.
Pilling's thrown money at Fleetwood - don't believe that the loss of £27,00 "prize money" would lead him to sack Mellon. Something behind this story that we don't know - and likely wont, until the Tribunal Hearing for unfair dismissal

Re: fleetwood town sack boss
he has been given virtually unlimited funds to bring success to Fleetwood and their form is not good enough to justify the money being spent. It's a lower league Chelsea syndrome and every manager they employ will be subjected to the same treatment.

I bet the snake would be tempted if they threw enough money his way.
"I am really grateful to Chesterfield for giving the opportunity, but feel Fleetwood is a massive challenge for me"
Get that cv in the post Paul......

Re: fleetwood town sack boss
A few fans were on telly tonight with little sympathy really saying things like "we'll it's a results industry" etc I thought something's gone on or there getting a bit big for their boots already just because someone's bankrolling them.

Re: fleetwood town sack boss
I read somewhere ( and can't remember where!!) where Mellon had had an "arguement" about loan players with the owner ( Pilling??? ).
More than likely he's maybe said something out of turn and ended up collecting the p45 without passing "Go" and collecting his wages!!!
If they are getting "big club syndrome" and sacking a guy whose got them into the limelight ...then I hope that it all goes belly up and they miss out on promotion!! They're another Stevenage / Crawley in the making !! Delusions of grandeur !!
