Re: Friday night footy

Cashy, can't see the shift worker argument coming in too it. I work 2 x 9 hour days, followed by 2 x 15 hour nights then 4 days off, so it wouldn't matter if the game was on a Friday night or a Saturday afternoon. If I was working either of my nights, I am able to get to the games on an afternoon, but have to leave early as I work in Preston, likewise if the games are at night, I finish at 1745 after a day shift, just gives me enough time to get home and changed ready for a night match. If I am on duty or unable to take time off due to numbers at work, tough. If I got a season ticket, I would have to take these things into consideration. However, for me, I prefer pay on the gate or getting tickets in advance to watch my favourite team. I suspect most season ticket holders are like you and retired, in fact when I retire next year, will probably get a season ticket for 2014/2015 season regardless of which league we are in.

It depends on your place of work and how shifts are split for that sort of thing though obviously not all jobs are the same.
As has been mentioned fair warning is the key here give those who travel time to organise their work and family commitments

Re: Friday night footy
Saturday 3pm ko's will remain I would imagine bar a couple of odd games
You could argue Tuesday Night games are a pain for shift workers as much as Fridays would the odd Sunday afternoon work?
How many away games did we have last season that were Switched?
The whole purpose of a Flexi ticket is to be just that flexible attend games that you can but still save money
The Club are at least trying to address the balance with cheaper season tickets, Flexi tickets, sliding prices on walk on's depending on game category.

There's a few who've been on the end of your opinions right enough who could testify to that statement. Must admit, I do like evening matches there's an added something about them, still the majority of folk can just about cope with a Saturday afternoon, especially when trying to balance family, work & the likes.

Unfortunately all midweek games are usually out and given the winter weather december and january are a last minute decision for me. Then there is the problem with the good old railways deciding to do railworks at the weekend. mid week games are usually 2 days off work and an overnighter at around £100 including travel unless I get the national express via manchester getting home at 5 in the morning.
A normal saturday trip usually involves leaving home at 7.45 and getting home at 22.45 all being well and involves a bus and 3 trains each way hence why winter is usually doubtfull although last year was OK. The late pitch inspections are no good as I'm usual heading to preston by then.

Re: Friday night footy
Why not make the Cheltenham game a Friday night game too? Would ideal time with it still being light at night and decent weather on the bank holiday weekend. Surely crowds would be increased for this game by having it on Friday night.

Re: Friday night footy
I do enjoy Friday night games but I can't think of one single economic argument in their favour, unless I'm missing something, which I obviously am!

The one argument i can think of in favour is "None" of the other local clubs have fixtures then, so therefore the possibility to attract others? Time will tell if this pays off, But to me its chance worth taking wi our measly income.
