Re: Friendly in Scotland
The link on the Official site for Northwich Vics gives directions to Witton Albion ground so beware. Partick Thistle is near the Maryhill district of Glasgow - leave the M8 at junction 16 and it's only about a mile up the road on the right hand side. Last time I was there their supporters weren't very friendly, but I was supporting Hibs at the time.

Re: Friendly in Scotland
Some of the pubs up Maryhill Road are a bit rough as well. I was fine but I worry about Kipax.
There are some very friendly pubs near by on Great Western Road, or the city centre is only a mile or so away and it's fine there.
Go thrash 'em.

Re: Friendly in Scotland
I seriously don't believe the coincidence here, my Home Town club playing my adopted Town Club. Deffo got to get to this game!
Was born in Glasgow, and followed Partick as a lad, when all the other Kids were following Rangers. Wasn't that long ago they were in the SPL. Also, if you look down the history line, a left back by the name of Norman McCredie played for both clubs. I'm sure there are other players that have played for both Clubs, but I happened across this particular name after talking to his son in a pub.
Never been to Firhill unforunately, so would really love to go to this match. Travel by train if needs must

Re: Friendly in Scotland
also being a glasgow boy I have been to firhill many a time over the years when 'thistle' were in the spl and my team were in town, its not the best ground in the world by any standards and maryhill can be a bit rough to say the least.. although thistle fans are generally a friendly bunch and I am sure they will give you a good time..train from preston to glasgow central station, then jump a taxi to the ground from the station - will probably cost about £20 but it will be a black hackney so between 5 of you its only £4 a skull, cheap as chips and there in no time....and garinda is right about great western road..load of nice little pubs on it...and only about 6 mile from firhill park...and dont forget to leave your bank of england £20 notes at home as the dark and dingy little pubs in maryhill may refuse to take them due to forgeries...the same way as alot of shops & pubs down here wont take my bank of scotland notes when I return after a weekend in glasgow....its annoying as some of you may find out...should be a good do...I may be in glasgow that weekend and take the game in...free digs in glasgow and an afternoon of footy..sorted !!

Re: Friendly in Scotland
I remember all the little Rangers fans having some cheey song they used to sing, Jase will love it:
Aberdeen, Aberdeen,
Cannae kick a jellybean,
Rangers won the golden cup,
Celtic won a rubber duck
They're probably all Celtic fans now though
I also think you'd struggle to kick a jellybean, so not really sure if thats an insult or not...

No until next Tuesday I'm straight. It's hard being a sex symbol for all genders.
If you want I'll have a word with some of the Weegie hard men I know up there, not to pick on you or hide your glasses.
