Get your heaters out!! :) :)
Frozen Touchline
Monday 22nd Feb 2010
Can you help?
Due to the freezing conditions forecasted ahead of tomorrow evening’s fixture against Burton Albion, Accrington Stanley are appealing to all local fans for the loan of any table top or full sized patio heaters. The wing of the pitch alongside the main stand requires assistance in thawing out due to the constant shade caused from the main stand, a dozen or so heaters will provide the warmth to soften the surface and provide Stanley with the opportunity to reach the playoff position that is in touching distance from the club.
The club can come and collect any patio heaters from your door. If you can provide the club with any heater for the next 24 hours, please contact Natalie on 01254 356 950 to arrange any collection or drop off details.

Re: Get your heaters out!! :) :)
Will the heaters have to have safety certificates before the stewards let them in?

Re: Get your heaters out!! :) :)
I would think halogen lamps would be better than blowers. Could they not ask one of the neighbouring clubs for the loan of one of their heat lamp systems for a day or 2.
Failing that get Phil Edwards to bring over his redundant sunbed

Re: Get your heaters out!! :) :)
How cold is it??? Are we looking at another postponement??
Another way to go about it, possibly:-
TEAM NEWS

Both sides agreed to the switch on Monday and the match will now be played on Wednesday, 24 February at 1945 GMT.

Re: Get your heaters out!! :) :)
A good rule of thumb we use for training which is normally when the pitch is still hardish on top is if the stud will go into the turf it will break up, usually a ten or fifteen minute kickaround on it usually chews it up, It may work?
It maybe worth the Club considering contacting James Dewhurst in Altham who supply a lot of different textiles, maybe there could be some good publicity to be had for both parties if a solution for the future could be found?

Have your lot got one?
It may help to get your fixture on for Wednesday Night

Blow heaters will work if the pitch is covered in plastic or some material that will expand with heat (as a hot air balloon does), and if I am not mistaken, a number of clubs already use that system.

Re: Get your heaters out!! :) :)
Funny, isn't it? The problem with stewarding has been bubbling under for weeks with various posts on here from Willie Miller and others about the incidents. As far as I'm aware, the club has done nothing.
Now, the stewards have gone one step further by confiscating the Ultra's flags - one of the Clayton End's most colourful features which makes it such an atmospheric and exciting place to be. As far as I'm aware, the club has done nothing about it. They've certainly told us nothing about it.
However, when the club want something from US, whether it's convector heaters or pitch clearing, they are very, very quick indeed to speak up.
The people who run this club on a day-to-day basis had better understand this and understand it well - as a small club, Stanley are very reliant on the goodwill of their fans...and goodwill is an extremely expendable commodity!
