Question Goalie question

Just wondering if anyone can throw some light on the goalie situation. How long do we have Randolph for and is there a chance of keeping him longer? Also, how long is it likely to be before Danny Alcock is available for selection. I saw the recent update saying he's back in training, but does anyone know if he is fit to play yet.

I really do think that this position is key to our ambitions and, with all due respect, I am not convinced that our coach/stand in is up to it nowadays despite his vast experience.

Danny was warming up with Darren before the FGR match and seemed OK

Re: Goalie question

spoke to darren on friday and he said he had another week. And if I heard right it can't be extended any further. Danny said he was back in full training and was also down as sub goalie for the friday match. So hopefully he may be ready to start when darren (who will be sadly missed) goes back....

Oh and Darren wants everyone to know he has absolutely loved it in accy and would not hesitate to come back and is grateful to all the fans for such a fab reception he has received.

Re: Goalie question

As if by magic, we now have an update on the official site. Strange how often the answer to our queries so often appears some minutes later -- like we've reminded 'em to tell us or something! Still, can't be accused of asking daft questions.

Impressed that everything looks to be under control with, dare I say it, some apparently winnable matches coming up.

Southport justed signed on loan a player from Crewe & Adriano Rigioslossoosossoolloloo

Should we now be worried?

Re: Goalie question

Not as worried as the person who irons the names on the kit at Southport

Name rings a bell. Think he's a striker, so that's always a worry. On the other hand, their assistant coach jacked yesterday due to "work commitments" so the joint is clearly in a bit of turmoil. Hope we can take advantage.

It is actually a genuine case of work commitments. Neil Whalley has a very well paid job outside of football. We're changing to having more training sessions, some during the day, to improve the club, and Neil can't commit.

No. We don't feel we have the money at the moment to do it.

We're looking at making the most out of what resources we have. We've recently taken on specialist fitness coaches to devise personal training programmes for the lads.

The daytime training will be for all those who can attend. A few don't have other jobs whilst some others have labouring or self employed jobs that allow them to vary their work around training. Not all will take it up I suspect. But every little bit helps.

Re: Goalie question

Little bit about new loan signing Rob Elliot from the charlton site:

"A fine shot stopper with great bravery, Elliot also clocked up two starts for the reserves during 2004/05, and his fine form continued in the build up to the following season.

At one stage, it looked as though Elliot might be in line for a first-team squad place when Dean Kiely fractured a finger during training at the start of August, but the acquisition of Thomas Myhre meant that Elliot had to readjust his focus to establishing himself in the reserves.

Facing stiff competition from the likes of Darren Randolph as well as Myhre, however, even that will be a major achievement for Elliot."

Darren deserves a big send off on saturday...Really hope we see him playing for stanley again, great keeper with bags of potential to make it in the top flight and i think he is one of the reason were up there this season, many thanks darren
