Either way, you win, you got the second scorer right, which in some ways is more impressive!!

It was a deflection off Sean Hessey for their goal.

Smile Re: Goals,Goals,Goals - II

Well we got the season underway with a home game against Aldershot, 0-0 score line, but a very promising start, with 5 new faces the team played well and passed the ball around with confidence. A good start to the season, but still waiting for that first goal!!

Next up Carling Cup action against Donny, a very good performance, which deserved the win and that all important first goal from Chris Turner, nobody picked that one, though had we opened against Cheltenham, we may have all gone for him!!!!

Good to see Craig Lindfield opening his account for us, second time around with the match winner…

Back to League action next and a trip to Northampton and yet another 0-0!!!

Next back at The Crown were Macc were the visitors, good performance again by Stanley and a memorable day for Sean McConville, with his first hat trick in our 3-0 victory!!

At this early stage of the season, Macca was now, well in front of the rest!!

Carling Cup action next and a super display, which saw Stanley, beaten narrowly 2-3.. First goals for Stanley new boys Ray - Razor – Putterill and Sean Hessey…

Another first next, with a trip to Oxford, 0-0 yet again, maybe time to re-name this thread!!!! NO goals, goals…..

Last game in August was a trip to Tranmere Rovers in the J.P.T.

1-1 in the 90, Razor getting his 2nd of the season, great composure shown by all the penalty takers to earn us a 5-3 win and a place in round 2!!

Shaker,Emileheskeysdad,UK cowboy, Sparkie,NigeB,Kiwi and me, all went for Macca to be top scorer, but nobody picked Chrissy Turner to score the first, though quite strangely AccyMad predicted that Lindfield would score the second!!

Four clean sheets in August, with just 8 goals scored, it would appear that we are missing Kee and Co. But, not too sure just how many they have scored??

With Terry Gornell signing for us late in the month, if he scores the most goals, I will give the Karma to the second top scorer

Roll on Septembers fixtures and Wycombes visit to The Crown.....

Smile Re: Goals,Goals,Goals - II

Septembers games kicked off with a home game against Wycombe.

A good game that saw Rory Boulding open his Stanley account with that late, late equaliser at The Clayton End!!!!

An away day at Torquay saw a surprising 0-0(4th of the season) a very good away point.

Friday night footy was back and we entertained Lincoln City, very good game which saw Macca notch up his 4th of the season and Terry Gornell scored his first goals for Stanley, in his second stint at the club – first of many I would think!!!

A trip to Port Vale saw us suffer our 1st League defeat of the season and conceding our first away League goals of the season

Final game of September was a Tuesday night match at Stockport, where goals from Proccy – his first of the season, in his 350th game for Stanley and Terry Gornell – his 3rd of the season, saw Stanley into a two goal lead, but the match ended 2-2!!

5 games in September, which saw us score 6 goals, half of them by Terry Gornell But Macca is still out in front with 4!!!

October will see us start with a home game against Gillingham, let’s hope we see the goals fly in at The Crown Ground!!!!

Smile Re: Goals,Goals,Goals - II

October got underway with that unforgettable game at The Crown Ground against Gillingham…. Was it really 7-4??????

First Stanley goals for (just double-checking!!) Andy Parkinson, Charlie Barnett, first goals of the season for, Phil – sun beds – Edwards, Jimmy – The Brazilian – Ryan, plus Terry Gornell and Sean McConville netting their 4th and 5th respectively of the season!!!

One game gone and already more goals than the whole of September..

A trip to Gigg Lane followed, less said the better…..

Next, we entertained The Millers, we took the lead twice in a game that we did enough to win, but for the antics of some of the Rotherham players, I feel we would have!!

A nightmare debut for Kevin Long, but even with 10 men, we should have won!!

Second goals of the season for Parky and Jimmy should have been enough, but we ended up losing out to a last minute goal from Ryan Cresswell…

A trip to Edgar Street – is falling down, falling down – and a good away point, but again from a winning position!! Third of the season for Jimmy – “The Brazilian” – Ryan!!

Final match of October, was a home game against Cheltenham Town – one to forget!!

5th of the season for Terry and 3rd pen of the season for Sunbeds, in a dismal 2-4 defeat…

We managed 12 goals in total in October

Macca and Terry lead the way with 5 goals each Now let's hope we can carry on scoring, but keep them out at the other end

Smile Re: Goals,Goals,Goals - II

A little late

We started November as we finished October!!!! An away trip to top of the table Chesterfield and a 5-2 defeat, our goals from Sunbeds - pen - and Terry, netting his 6th of the season!!!!

A welcome break from League footy saw us entertain Oldham Athletic in the 1st round of the F.A. Cup – what a game!!!! Goals from "Razor" and "The Brazilian" saw us through to Rd2, in what was a FANtastic performance from The Reds!!

A first League trip to Southend, saw us come back with yet another away point… A super strike from “The Brazilian” saw us take the lead, but yet again, we could not take all 3 points

Another first next, the first League visit to The Crown for Stevenage was one of the worst matches I have ever seen – due to their “Tactics!”, but we got that all important win and with it, three valuable points!! Super strike from Macca….

A midweek battle of The Roses, saw Sunbeds net his 5th Pen of the season, but we are still awaiting that away win as The Bantams fought back to earn a point!!

November ended in defeat in The F.A. Cup at Port Vale 8 League and Cup goals for Stanley in November, plus 5 League points

Smile Re: Goals,Goals,Goals - II

It all starts again in December, with a trip to Underhill, resulting in a 2-0 defeat, from a game in which, by all accounts we had complete control!!!!

December was short, but not sweet!!!

January saw a New Year, also a new ground, but the same old result – a win at Morecambe!!!!! Sunbeds and Jimmy, giving us a much needed 3points….

League leaders Chesterfield turned up on Bank Holiday Monday, to say that we “Played them off the park” is an understatement, if we had been 5-0 up at half time, it would have been more than a fair reflection of our dominance!!

But, not for the first time in recent months, 2 were not enough – though at least we got a point from this one!!!!!

Our friends and neighbours – Bury – were up next at The Crown, not a classic, but 3 points, a good solid performance and a Joe Jacobson headed winner – from a
corner!!!!

An away day to Cheltenham, gave us another away win, with Terry Gornell scoring his 8th of the season and a super strike to win it by Leam Richardson!!!!!

The Shrews were next at The Crown and a very disappointing 3-1 reverse, which did not look on the cards in the first 45 mins… Gornell netting his 9th of the season – not bad for a late starter!!

With the forthcoming postponements due to the weather, the defeat at home to Shrewsbury was the last match in January

P – 5, W – 3, D – 1, L – 1. With 8 goals scored, was our return for January.

Let’s hope for some better weather in February, so we can enjoy some more footy!!!

First match in February was at home to our local rivals Morecambe. A dull game, finished up 1-1, with “Sunbeds” equalising from the spot – his 7th pen/goal of the season!!

Our first Football League trip to Stevenage next and a fighting 2-2 draw, with late goals from Gornell (his 10th of the season) and a late equaliser from Captain FANtastic, “Doctor Procter”

Another away trip next, Rotherham and Le Fondre, a very harsh 2-0 defeat, with that Frenchie scoring late on!!!

Postponements aplenty, meant yet another away game, this time promotion chasing Wycombe Wanderers, with goals from Jacobson and Sunbeds (what a header!!), their promotion hopes took a slight dent!!!

The Alex at The Crown next, whilst it was not the thriller of last season, a “Wonder strike” from Ian Craney – his first, 3rd time around - and a great winner from Macca – his 8th of the season and 50 for Stanley – made it back-to-back wins for the Reds!!!

Final game of February was another game at home, the visitors this time, Billy Kee and Torquay, yet another super strike from Craney, back-to-back home wins and 3 wins in a week!!!!

9 goals in 6 games for February, 51 goals so far in all competitions this season. Late starter Terry Gornell leads the way with 10, but he is followed very closely by Sunbeds on 8 and Seany McConville, also on 8!!!

Smile Re: Goals,Goals,Goals - II

Thick and fast again in March, starting off with an away day in Lincoln – not our best hunting ground.. – a scoreless draw, which by all accounts was one that we tried our best not to win??

Back to The Crown next and foot of the table Stockport, by no means a classic, but a good free kick from Hess, combined with a double from the spot by Sunbeds and our strikers were being shown how it was done, 3 points and a clean sheet!!

More away day blues at Gillingham – we must put some of these grounds to bed next season!!! – despite a very good first half performance, we were once again left ruing a hatful of missed chances….

Tuesday night again, home to Burton Albion, a good all-round performance saw us run out 3-1 winners, with goals from Sunbeds, Craney and Proccy

Sunbeds now leads the way with 11, Terry on 10 and Macca on 9!!!

Another home game – Port Vale – another 3 goals, from Macca (his 10th of the season, not bad for somebody who can’t score ) Craney and Proccy. A game in which we never looked in trouble and we gave a “Workmanlike” performance!!

Away to Crewe next, a better 0-0 you will struggle to see, though many people in the ground – including plenty of Crewe FANs – believed we did score a goal, but another good away point!!

Away again at The Shots, second goal of the season for Rory Boulding, another good away point, though many say it should have been 3!!!!

Saving the best till last, our old friends Hereford.. Wednesday night saw a very good TEAM performance, made all the better for 4 goals without reply, 2 (at last) for Terry, a great corner routine from The Brazilian and possibly (??????) the best goal of the season from the lightweight Sean McConville!!!!!!

Our most prolific month yet, with 15 goals taking us to 66 so far for the season!!!

Terry on 12, followed very closely by Sunbeds and Macca, both on 11!!!!

7 Games left of our season, starting at home against Southend, fingers crossed and KEEP THE FAITH
