Re: Good luck Alty

From the fishy Alty website
http://www.altrinchamfc.co.uk/alty1.htm

Quote:
ALTY DOWN

After the decision today by the FA to uphold the Conference's 18-point deduction and fine of £1,000, Altrincham FC has issued the following statement:

After the FA today upheld the Conference's earlier decision, the Altrincham FC Board are deeply disappointed with today's decision by the FA Appeals Panel. After a successful season on the pitch, this decision has come as a complete shock. On the positive side, the management and Board are totally committed to take the club onwards and upwards on the foundations set over the last four years. We can but thank our own fans for their loyalty and also the supporters and clubs throughout the English football community for their support".

Footnote: The deduction of 18 points, fine of £1,000 and consequent relegation of Altrincham follows their playing James Robinson in the Conference this season. Robinson was signed from another English club, Accrington Stanley, who failed to get international clerance for him. Last week Stanley were fined by the FA the princely sum of £200 for this offence

Re: Good luck Alty

Why the £1000 fine tho?

If the relegation wasnt enough

The FA will do anything to get money out of Clubs

nearly let this go but it does need to be clarified, altrincham didn't sign him from us at all. he played a couple of games for our reserves for which we were fined but was never registered for our first team and so in fact was never accrington stanley's player to sign from us. we were as much in the dark about him requiring international clearance as altrincham, as when we took him on he had been training with another english side. had he signed for our first team we would have done a detailed check as we do with every player that joins us. having said this, we do understand that altrincham are upset and we have every sympathy for them.

Re: Good luck Alty

I have every sympathy with Altrincham as it seems the FA have been determined to make an example of them as they did with Northwich last season but I can't believe they are still blaming us for what was their error, essentially if they'd done the necessary checks and the player himself had been honest with them this would never have happened.

Re: Good luck Alty

I think Grays' chairman deserves a special mention. According to Alty's site, he coughed up for a top London barrister to represent them. It's just sad that the appeal failed.

The relegation position still isn't clear and, according to the BBC, there's still a faint chance of a reprieve for Altrincham if Scarborough cannot satisfy the Conference of their financial position by the end of the month. There's more on http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...gh/4992952.stm and a paragraph on http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...am/5009584.stm.

If they were going to enforce the rules, and do what they said they would do, then they had to stick to it, otherwise every time a wrong decision was made the league would decend into choas

No one gives a toss for your opinion anymore.
