Re: Graham Westley
I have read the artical twice and really cant see what he has done wrong.
He has obviously put a lot of his own money into the club and decided he wants to move on.
The cup tie has allowed him the opportunity to claim the monies owed to him.
Surely no-one expects him to right the debt off ???.
Hes decided to concentrate on managing, which has turned out to be a wise decision.
I couldnt understand the hatred for him before, but I havent been upto speed with non-league football since 1978--- Now if you want to talk about bent corrupt chairman---I could write a book about Wigan Ath !!!

Perhaps you may understand if I cut it short. He owned Farnborough at the time and was the self appointed Chairman and Manager. He switched the Arsenal tie to Highbury, got the money, paid himself back the money he had invested in Farnborough and did a runner (that is part of the reason that the FA will not allow a Club to switch their FA Cup tie any more) and Farnborough went bust. Before he left he released five players as not being good enough, he took over Stevenage and signed these players for nothing as they were out of contract at Farnborough. The last time we played at Farnborough their main stand was being propped up to stop it falling down.
Now if Stanley were to be drawn away at Man United in the FA Cup and made lots of money and Ilyas Khan took the money as re-payment of all the wages he has paid and Stanley went bust. Would you pat him on the back and say well done I don't think you have done anything wrong.
People like Westley and especially Evans should be in jail.

Re: Graham Westley
Odious man, effective manager. He's what I'd call a 'results man', which is so sought after in the modern game. He's about as far removed from purist as I can imagine. If fans of Stevenage/Preston are happy with that, fair play. Different strokes.

Re: Graham Westley
Stevanage fans deserved him, terrible attitude and a weasel of a manager. It'll be poetic if you see an exodus of their best players to PNE.

Re: Graham Westley
Did Farnborogh go bust because he pulled his money out?,if so,then I can understand the bitterness.
Ozzy,i am talking pre Whelan,ie Kenyon era,but I have no time for him either,I have a few mates from Orrell rufc, and it was no different what happened there as at Farnborough.
I had business dealings with him when he was building his empire, horrible bloke, ask his own brother!!!

You beat me to it. Can't think of a better couple. If I were a PNE fan I would be very worried.

Re: Graham Westley
Having had 3 seasons of Darren Ferguson, Phil (Orange) Brown and egg chasing magic Maurice Lindsay, as chairman, I'd say most PNE fans are quite excited at the prospect of actually winning a few games. PNE have been "too nice", time to get nasty !!!!!

Ha Ha forgot Lindsey the westhoughton dogs bookmaker was at Preston!!!.
No wonder trouble shooter Ridsdale was called in,Lindsey knew less about football than he did about rugby
