Ground Improvements Announced
Accrington Stanley has announced plans for a massive improvement to its ground facilities.
An image of a new architect-designed stadium has been released, which the Club believe will provide players and fans with every conceivable luxury, including flushing toilets.
However, a lack of available land and support from within its traditional home has prompted the club to secure a move to pastures new.
The Club has therefore approved a merger between Accrington Stanley and Warrington Town and to build the new stadium off Junction 8 of the M62.
Warrington is one of the largest urban areas without a Football League club and, following the recent FA Cup success of the town’s club, its Borough Council is eager for league status. This helped convince the directors of Accrington Stanley that the move is in the best long-term interests of both clubs and sets of fans. “Relocating to Warrington will make life easier to get to the stadium for the management, most players, and some fans” said a Club spokesperson, and it is anticipated that a taxi from Accrington will be laid on for home games.
The two Clubs will also merge their names and, for the 2015/16 season, will be known as “waccrington stanley”.
“The new name”, claimed the spokesperson “will better reflect both the past and future of the Club, whilst minimising the cost of altering badges and stationery”.
