Half a name
Is it just me being petty or what? The announcers/reporters on a certain local radio station based in Blackburn, never, ever ever, ever refer to The Reds as anything other than "Accrington"
Are they aware how annoying it is, or like I say it could just be me. |

I dont like it either actually, like they say 'the rovers and clarets' and as far as the 'shrimps' but never stanley or anythin for us...

I just get annoyed with all the stupid music they seem to play in between playing clips of the highlights....Its like the guy who presents it needs time to think about what he's saying next.
 And they're probably one of the last stations in the country to give out a full classified check of the days results...Extremely annoying when you've had a wager and you want to know the results !!!  Have to agree though, I can't understand why we're just referred to as "Accrington" when all the others get referred to by their nickname.

Our Club should always be Read...and referred to as ACCRINGTON STANLEY !!.
This is the only title that describes the Club as the Historic and Proud entity which, as we all know, it most definitely IS !!. It is also the 'Brand' Name which I wish someone would see fit to Market in a more adventurous and comprehensive manner than has seemingly been employed up to now !!. There are dozens of 'Rovers' and 'Clarets' littering the Football league already !..which makes Blackburn R's....and the Turf Moor Stiffs...sink into a sort of hazy anonymity !!....and who in their right mind would want to refer to their Team and it's players as 'Shrimps'....sounds fishy to me!!. SO...To the many Television and Radio announcers who, as it would appear, are seeking to pin a different label onto 'The Club that would not Die!!', I can only advise them to sort out their tongues and dentures and collective wits...and make the decision to refer to our Club as 'ACCRINGTON STANLEY'.. ...and, as Cashy would put it !... NOWT ELSE !! 'ON STANLEY ON !!.....TO GREATER THINGS !! ( And Wembley!!) |
