Happy Birthday Stanley
What more fitting tribute could there have been to celebrate Stanley's 50th birthday than Saturdays game against Bradford City.
How proud all who were present at the re-birth of our beloved club would be to see what has been achieved after 50 long years
From the depths of the Lancashire Combination, to the heights of a possible play-off place to Englands second football tier.
From a ramshackle ground, built without money but plenty of blood, sweat & tears, to today's (by comparison) impressive little stadium.
All this has been achieved against almost impossible odds, with a shoestring budget & a largely apathetic local population.
Thanks to all those who helped to achieve this miracle but are no longer around to see the fruits of their labours.
Thanks to our wonderful squad of players. Our superb management team, who find rough diamonds & turn them into polished gems.
Thanks to Mr Andy Holt, without doubt the best chairman in the EFL. A man who laid the foundations for much of our recent success.
Thanks to the over a thousand loyal Bradford City fans who came in force & helped to provide such a cracking birthday atmosphere.
Am I dreaming, or is it possible we could end up in the play-offs for the Championship?
Ye Gods! Could we actually achieve another promotion????
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STANLEY!
Here's to another 50 years of success.
