Have Stanley turned the proverbial corner?

On the evidence of the last few weeks, would it be fair to say we have turned a corner?

Two wins an dclean sheets in a row succeeded a 3-0 defeat where we did actually play reasonably well, a Brentford away match where we had a really good half and the Stockport match where at least we weren't outplayed. The mauling at Peterborough is now a distant memory adn at least the team have started to have a go and dig in.

The only worry for me is the lack of goals being scored by our freely attacking team. 3 goals in 5 games isn't fantastic by our standards and we must start to hit the target again.

Two days to go until this thread is answered by the team!

Hector Sam has just left Notts County,
BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Notts County | Striker Sam departs Meadow Lane

maybe the club could do a good deal 'till the end of the season.

Re: Have Stanley turned the proverbial corner?

Another striker that would have been available was Brett Ormerod. Apparently he was to have had a loan deal, possibly with Morecambe, until an injury to Craig Beattie meant PNE had to call it off: Ormerod told to forget loan move - Lancashire Evening Post

Re: Have Stanley turned the proverbial corner?

i'd just read that on Sky Sports, I would be very disappointed if Brett hadn't tipped us off about a possibility.

I can understand not being in the running if money is a factor but other than that we should move heaven and earth to bring Brett home. I still like to think that he'll finish his career at Stanley

Couldn't believe the bloody cheek of Morecambe, a few days before we play them at home and they were trying to get our Brett on loan. The nerve of em!!!!!

I'm tempted to make a not-very-educated, and tentative guess Macca, and
say I think so!.
But would you agree that it is by all of the optimists amongst us ( DM won't agree with this!) seeing evidence of what we have been craving for in so many of our postings. This is JC and JB introducing positive Tactics which are right for the team at this time, making useful and appropriate ( not knee-jerk!) signings. Aswad Thomas being the best of these!, and by the players showing the self-belief which I for one thought they had lost for ever!.
So with the right Tactics, put into action by players who have confidence in what they are trying to achieve, and the ongoing guidance of the RIGHT Manager and his Assistant.....with the hopful promise of ( and this is for Depeche!)
Super-douper, luxury-assured, all-mod-cons, Dressing Rooms at some point in the future......Can 'the Reds' go wrong ?.
A cautionary note though!. Taking a peek at what's waiting for the team
just around the proverbial corner, it's not going to be a bed of roses.
BUT just think of the scraps we are going to be apart of btween now and the end of the season !!. Makes the mouth water!

'WHAT ME WORRY ?' 'ON STANLEY!...ON!!!

Does it matter whether we win 1-0, 3-0 or whatever. The only thing that matters is that we win - end of! If we happen to win 1-0 ugly, I will take it as I think the majority of supporters would. Providing we are getting 3 points and not 1 or even worse nil, then I don't think we can complain really.

Re: Have Stanley turned the proverbial corner?

we've played pretty football over the years and get hit by sucker punch goals, then the fans are up in arms about naievety etc so I agree that crap football - 3 points is preferable

No Today was very poor to say the least, I think 99% of the fans would take a defeat if we looked like we were interested but Today's Fayre was rubbish at Best!

We need Champagne Fountains (Flow from the Top Down)

Re: Have Stanley turned the proverbial corner?

to be honest I thought we tried today but our important players were restricted by a better organised team. I'd take that defeat any day over the Wrexham, Notts County and Rochdale defeats where we weren't even interested
