Who's fault, parents or teachers???
Know I am going 'off thread', but, this really 'bugs' me!!
Oh for the return of Tin Monkey, his prose is quite excellent.
Why are we seeing fewer & fewer posts from the likes of TM, Henry, Wynonie,Kipax, Bottletop, to name but a few, all whose posts I enjoyed reading..... is this forum being taken over by the kids?
C'mon, us older guys, lets make our feelings known, perhaps if we post more, in English, they may learn a little!!!!

I'm sorely tempted to reply to this, but, as it's well past my bedtime, I'll sleep on it, & perhaps, when I respond tomorrow, it may not be quite so vitriolic!!

Bu***r it, I can't go to bed yet!
Surely, if one is 'doing' a degree in English, one should have, by now, at least mastered the basics of grammar, punctuation & spelling?
And if one doesn't need teaching, there's a lot of people in the education system earning money under false pretences!!
As for 'communicative speech', how long before we return to caveman-like grunts?

Then you will know that as you use the i at the start of a sentence it must be a capital, I, As your refering to yourself, i don't need teaching, also a capital , I, if your doing an english degree you would never use don't as you are losing out on one word, do not, if this is used in a 500 word essay say 10 times you would have to think of 10 more words. Thankyou is again in this premise as it is also 2 words, thank you.
I hope this is helpful to you, it was not ment as a criticism just a way of communicating using words.

Re: haz any1 sin da clough da magic dragon website
It is.... BUT in a way that doesn't annoy the majority. Like you have. (addy on bit- I meant like the OP has) So everyone stay away from the silly typing and everyone will be happy
Its not about proper english and proper spelling. otherwise non of us would be posting. Just dont make an extra effort to post silly words.. thats all
Quite why adam cottier is jumpin in all defencive is beyond me as I cant see him using hat text or anyone telling him off ?

Re: haz any1 sin da clough da magic dragon website
To be honest guys there is nobody more aggrivated than myself by the ineptitude of some people's grasp of grammar and basic english but this is a messageboard and not the Daily Telegragh so to be frank, it really does not matter if certain phrases or words are misused
