Re: Hereford FC
I was standing behind the banner bearers and the stewards' actions were heavy-handed to say the least. However, heavy-handedness seems to be a way of life in Hereford...
Myself and Chester Red went down by car and arrived about midday. We had a mooch around the town and a bit of nosebag and then started walking in the direction of the ground. We were amazed to see a large-scale police presence along the route. To be honest, I wish Kipax had been there as he could have got a great shot - cops lining the street, squad cars and riot vans drawn up and two slightly-puzzled looking middle-aged blokes in Stanley shirts walking through the middle of it all. After that, we went in a pub near the ground and I must say the Hereford fans were a great bunch...very friendly indeed. In fact, we liked it so much that we went back for "one for the road" afterwards (along with three coach travellers who managed to get a quick one in before their transport was run out of town by the cops).
If we play you again next season, I'd certainly pay you another visit, but ask your stewards and cops to lighten up a bit, eh?...we really are a friendly (if slightly nutty) bunch of fans!
