Re: Hereford Have Left The Building
Champions of non league indeed. Give our regards to the conference, as you are no doubt headed back there sooner or later.
The support your club has from the area is an absolute and utter disgrace.
Your team are awful, and play borrid to watch football. Admittedly, on saturday we more than matched your awfulness in this department. One of our worst performances of the season. What a truly awful game, only saved by two well taken goals and an amusing but ridiculous sending off.
It is nice to see clubs like yours surface into the league, it is what all supporters of small clubs dream of, but i'm afraid Accrington just doesn't seem to be ready for the football league, or football at all for that matter. Myabe there was a lesson to be learnt from the other Accrington club going under in the 1960's... there isn't the support in the area to sustain the club.
Ah well. A battle won for you, and lost for us, but I sense that the long term plans to rebuild Edgar Street into a 21st century stadium, which is much needed admittedly, the financial security that hs been attained recently, and a young squad moving forward will see Hereford push on up the league ladder over the five to ten years. Unfortunately I fear you may well be going back where you belong.
Finally, I really must say, your manager, despite his success and no doubt your love of him, really is one of the most foul mouthed unsporting men I have ever seen grace a touchline, and if you are relegated, never will it have happned to a nicer person.
Incidentally, before you start with the usuals, I am Welsh, but was not born in Hereford. That should confuse you for a while.
Nice cup of bovril by the way, nothing like burning my tongue.

Bet you had a bit of rasberry in your lager top aswell, eh shandypants?
At the end of the day - we know we're chancers in a professional league, with no financial prowess or army of supporters, however we've beaten some of the most 'well established' teams in this league and the support we do have can't be beaten. You're lot were inaudible for the entirity of the game and were almost as bland as your football.
We are the Phoenix Nights of football & long may it stay that way

Re: Hereford Have Left The Building
we ARE punching above our weight, of that there is no doubt. But like you say, it is what all football fans dream about - even fans of the fifth biggest club (and downwards) dream about holding their own in the champions league, UEFA Cup, Premier League, Championship etc. We are living proof that with the right ambition and drive and passion you can make things happen. Take away our away travelling crowd and you're right, our home attendances are abysmal, still not cutting it in the Conference if truth be known. BUt yet we are not down yet? We may well survive this year and then hopefully next season, if we have more luck with injuries and manage to keep hold of a player or two, we may manage to hold onto mid-table - just like Hereford are trying to do.
I read with interest on your own Bulls hite I mean site, that the average crowd in the league is 3900 + but yet your average crowd is around 3300, therefore the sums, as done by one of your fans, are that you are 700 fans x £13 x 23 games equals £209 300 SHORT of being an average team. And you, the self-proclaimed sleeping giant of football were applauding that whilst berating only making a profit of £8k last season, including money from sky and the FA for the play-offs!
Now do those sums again but for us with an average crowd of around 2200 gives you 508 thousand pound short of the league average gate income! The whole of football, whether they like our manager or not, should be using us as a shining example of how to balance the books, of how to maintain a shoe string business whilst still improving year on year, whilst somehow still managing to bring in players of sufficient (just) quality to carry some kind of threat in this league. Our tinpot outfit are only eight (?) points behind your lot with a turnover of approx 75% LESS than what you claim you had last year.
You still wanna convince me that all is rosy in the land of tractors?
I dont know what the population is around Herefordshire, or quite how far away your nearest footballing rival is, but if the truth be known there is absolutley no reason on earth why we should be within eight points of a superpower like yourselves. Either we are doing exceptionally well or you are doing exceptionally poorly. Go on, say it I dare you!

No it's not, it's par for the course given our unique geographical and ethnic circumstances. In fact pro rata we probably do better than you - how close to Hereford is your nearest league rival then, eh? Given the size of your catchment area your crowds are crap too, and I'm not surprised based on what we saw on Saturday.
BTW, congratulations on having the quietest away fans I've ever heard - pathetic, you gave your team nowt, apart from abuse at the end!

That's with no other league club in sight. What would their crowds be like after 44 years in the wilderness and the density of other league and Premiership clubs that Accrington have to contend with?
What makes him think a 21st Century Stadium will make any difference? Sounds like it could be another Darlington if it ever gets that far.
