Re: Hull home match thread

just where did that performance come from. was really expecting the worst last night more than usual after our recent form. for once the changes in the team improved it which isn,t always the case. need to follow up this with another win and another top performance.

Re: Hull home match thread

Is it true they made Ben Barclay do the post match interview to stop him getting on the coach back to Hull? He stuck so close to them all match so they couldn't get anything going. Would have him as man of the match with Uwakwe not far behind.

Doesn't sound that even!
Stats don’t necessarily always tell the whole story Milord. Stanley had a flurry of shots in the first few minutes which were all blocked easily and didn’t get through to their goalie. This clearly puts a slant on the stats for the first half IMHO. Also Hull put the ball in the net but that was marginally offside. Stanley soon got on top reflected by the two yellow cards for Hull players in the first half when they had to chase our boys as Stanley took a firmer hold on the game. Don’t forget it was still 0-0 at half time!.....Fairly even IMHO but I will concede Stanley just had the edge!
Stanley certainly bossed the second half though and fully deserved the win!
Team spirit was excellent personified by Dion Charles’ running, defending and vocally encouraging his team mates. Barclay stepped in and was excellent. Two great goals too should give the team more confidence for the matches to come.
ON STANLEY ON.
KEEP THE FAITH.

Re: Hull home match thread

Choirboy, my apologies.
This is the problem when you're following the game via a phone app.
The first 20 minutes or so, the BBC Sports app was showing c.70% possession & almost continuous goal attempts by Stanley.
Yet some other contributors were saying the complete opposite, ie.- Hull were all over us.
Confusing or what?
As you obviously had the benefit of actually watching the game, I concede your summary was more accurate.
Put it down to frustration that (according to the stats) our possession & goal attempts had failed to result in any goals by half-time.

The important thing is that we agree that Stanley played really well overall and fully deserved the three points!
Onwards and upwards!

Re: Hull home match thread

its never been about stats especially the posession one. we have all been to games where we have been on top and you know we just are not going to score. then there,s the other games where the opposition have never had a chance all game but the game changes and you know its only about how long it will take em to score, usually an equaliser. we have been correct much more than we have been wrong in both cases.
