Re: Hull (Tiger's ) City Match Thread
So proud of the lads tonight for a great footballing performance. No hoofing the ball forward but cool, precision passing starting from Mooney's throw outs. I'll bet Steve Bruce lost a few pounds in sweat tonight! I only have 1 niggle, in that I just don't get Coley's refusal to give Morgan any game time in 120 minutes in which Billy Kee wasn't pulling up any trees. maybe he was saving Billy for the penalty shoot out..............oh hang on!!!!!!

Re: Hull (Tiger's ) City Match Thread
A great match in most parts, we rode our luck at times but in fairness Hull did not seem to be a championship side, The penalties were a cruel blow but a fair way to end it. we must get our communication sorted out. too often we had two Stanley players going for the same ball. I am afraid I did not agree with the man of the match. I thought piero deserved it. I believe the radio pundits chose Matt crooks. overall we gave a good account of ourselves.

Wasn't Josh's dad the match sponsor? Young Windass isn't quite as good as he thinks he is. Too many wasted set pieces where you just know he is going to have a blast rather than trying a training ground move. Maybe we don't have any?

I agree shame about the home turn out but it does,nt surprise me a real shame cause I think Accy and John and Jimmy could have something special with this team this season.

They are not. Those were nearly all last season's Premier League players.

Re: Hull (Tiger's ) City Match Thread
Envy your attendance there tonight Cashy. As Larry says, 5 Live comms sang Accy praises and lamented on low local support. Needs local rags to do a job for us in tempting folks to the Wham. Been long exiled myself and seems that from '62 the local populous switched their allegiance to Rovers or Clarets. A long road back.
Anyway, nuff of that for tonight, gotta be an outstanding performance - well played lads - give Morecambe a mauling on Saturday.

A great performance by the Stanley boys tonight. Maybe if we'd won the toss to take the penalties towards the Clayton End things would have turned out in our favour? Anyway, to take a recent Premiership team to extra time then penalties is no mean feat!

Re: Hull (Tiger's ) City Match Thread
Really enjoyed the game tonight and a clean sheet after ninety minutes just shows how well we defended.
We seemed to start with 4-4-2 with two wide men and I feared we would be opened up at will,I was wrong as it gave crookes and Barry more space and time in the middle and both were excellent, although huddlestones lack of mobility helped !!!
Our back four were young, big and quick and with massive desire to win, there's going to be plenty clean sheets this season as there are top lads waiting in the wings for any dip in form.
Exciting times once we get used to how Coley wants us to play.
Wasn't a total loss tonight as I walked away with £208 from the 50/50 draw 😀😀😀

Re: Hull (Tiger's ) City Match Thread
Cracking display by the Reds, bit waist full in front of goal first half, thought Josh should have hit the back of the net after good work from Piero with only the keeper to beat. Ref missed loads of handballs one in the area which was deffo a pen. But shouldn't detract from the boys to night well done more of the same against the Shrimps...

Re: Hull (Tiger's ) City Match Thread
Terrific entertainment last night with some very good football on show. The lads can be proud of their efforts.
Like others I thought Davies was once again excellent. We've done well to pick that lad up.

Re: Hull (Tiger's ) City Match Thread
proud to be a Stanley fan after last night. it felt more like a win. after 120 mins. we were level with a side 2 divisions above us. what came next was a lottery. onwards and upwards to Morecambe and for gods sake leave matt crooks alone having read some pathetic comments on the other thread. if we cant get 1500 home fans next Tuesday then do people in the area deserve a football league club.

Re: Hull (Tiger's ) City Match Thread
We were always in the fame against mostly Premier League players so that's great testament to our lads who all played very well. Thought Crooksy just shaded it as our best player on the night.
I like Coley's comments after the match about not deserving to win if you miss 3 from 6 penalties - it keeps the standards high. Put performances like that in week in, week out and we'll have a very good season.
Would like to see Morgan get a run out. He's got talent and needs to harness the desire to go with it. Tom Davies looks to me like a lad who's determined to grab this chance of league football with both hands and give it his absolute best shot every game - Get some of that rubbing off on Adam Morgan and we'll have a player who'll score lots at this level.

I have to agree, What else we can do to encourage people to the ground is beyond me. I think this must be the best squad we have had for years and one we may have the best chance of reaching the play offs with for some time. The lack of TV coverage does not help, The local rags do all they can as they are diminishing in circulation. The radio is the best friend we have at the moment. If people won't pay to see the quality of football we saw tonight then I don't know what we can do. suggestions please.
