Ian Craney Update

Huddersfield fan here. When we signed Craney, I along with many others slammed stan for spending 200k on a player who failed badly in this division only one year previously. His first game seemed to back this up when he was all over the place. Around 2 months on and he is quickly becoming a fans favourite. His ability to always create time for himself on the ball and never pannick is a welcome change from midfielders of previous years. He reminds me quite a bit of Frank Lampard in the way he always seems to get in to good positions and its only his finishing that has stopped him getting atleast 5 goals in the last 3 games in which he has been the star player in each despite only playing 30 minutes against leicester before getting injured.

Im not sure why he failed like he did at Swansea but he seems to have settled pretty quickly with us. I also havent seen any signs of the lazy side to his game that some of your fans criticised him for. If i carries on like he has been playing then he and Gary Roberts could prove to be the best signings we have made in recent years and prove to be bargain buys at only 200k each.

Re: Ian Craney Update

Pleased to hear that they are both doing well and close enough to Accrington to take in games when Town are not playing.

Re: Ian Craney Update

one of the reasons he failed at Swansea (or so I am led to believe) is that he was played more in a defensive holding role. Craney never was or never will be a defensive player and he needs to be able to put his foot on the ball and find the opening - rather than winning the ball then playing it ten yards sideways or backwards every time. Thus nobody at the club rated him and he was low on confidence. When the new manager came in he never really got a look in.

Hoping to get the McGalpharm tarmac sometime to see them both play.
