Important fixture next season

From todays Sunday Mirror, Gills manager Mark Stimson put a brave face on his side`s relegation, saying "It is one thing coming to a place like Leeds and playing in front of 38,000 people, but I want to know who wants to play at the likes of Accrington and Morecambe next season"
Behold a sleeping giant!

He'd better just hope his players want to. This is typical of a club that had a bit of money pumped into it in about 1996/1997 and rose to the 1st division and now the bubble has burst returning back to were they belong. Any one who has visited Priestfield pre the re-development will know it certainly was'nt the nicest ground to visit, if not (apart from springfield park) the worst in the league?

Plus if Stimson did'nt want to be playing the likes of Accrington or Morecambe next year then he would'nt have fielded a relegation battle side.?

He'd better start facing facts - whether they want to play here or not they're gonna have to and it's not good to start slagging clubs off, sounds like another one who thinks they have too good a club to be relegated.

Re: Important fixture next season

I remember Nigel Clough saying something similar about Aldershot in our first season in the Conference.

They've yet to beat us and doesn't look as if they'll get the chance to have another go next season at this rate!

We, on the other hand will **** this tinpot league next season
