Re: In Hope.

I hope in the days that follow people who can influence this outcome will step forward and start to pull things together. In my mind and with respect; with the support and wishes of Jack's family, the club, and the supporters club should be at the forefront of this, rising funds for a suitable celebration of Jack's contribution to Accrington Stanley rather than a sombre memorial in itself.

I would think the re dedication of the main stand as the "Jack Barrett Stand" would be of the highest honour. To this end it should be refurbished and painted. In a prominent area there should be a memorial to Jack's efforts along with those who stood together back then to give us today, clear for all to see. We as a family we, all of us, should fund this with Donations and where and only where appropriate (No Advertising) with sponsorship donations from local business.

Please, don't let's do anything less than is deserved. If nothing else shines out at the Crown, let the Jack Barrett Stand be a beacon to what he was and who we are.

I pledge £100 to this cause and where I can I will had to it.

Re: In Hope.

I am holding up my hand and bowing my head - I had confused Jack with Fred Barrett. I did not know Jack, though I now wish that I had.

Re: In Hope.

I have sent an email to Rob Heys & Peter Marsden this morning with the suggestion of possibly re-naming the Main Stand but this as I am sure is a time sensitive issue and is more down to the wishes of Jack's Family to whom I send my Deepest condolences.

I will post accordingly as and when there is more news.

What Jack has left is a legacy and that legacy is Accrington Stanley Football Club who he was fundamental in re-forming and helping to build the Club back up as they rose through the non-league pyramid to where we are today an established Football League Club, wherever we go in years to come Jack has touched our hearts in the one one thing that unites us all.

Re: In Hope.

I am looking forward to reading Pendle Red's last line in the Evening Telegraph and hearing spluttering coming from Ewood. Great line - I wish I had thought of it.

Re: In Hope.

Had the pleasure of being introduced to and chatting with this gentleman a couple of years back at a ground here in the south. The abiding image I have of Jack is of him sitting in the dugout after the game at Woking on a special day back in 2006. God bless you sir.

Re: In Hope.

i would like to offer my sincere condolences to Jack's family and Accrington Stanley Football Club on the loss of a true stalwart and legend. An absolute gentleman is an understatement and the pleasure I got every time I met and saw Jack at the Club will live long in my memory. Jack always had time and a word and for everyone and his dry sense of humour was often missed. There is no doubt he loved his role of meeting, greeting and guiding visitors into the 'Founders Lounge' and his will be the first face missed by many people to enter the Reception at Accrington Stanley Football Club. Jack, Rest in Peace I am pleased and proud to be able to say I was able to enjoy our time together at the Club.
Will be sadly missed. Phil Hackney

Re: In Hope.

I think one of the greatest accolades the club can offer (and will cost nowt, which is what he started Accrington Stanley with) is to keep clear of relegation and remain a football league club for next season. After this, the idea of renaming the main stand is a great idea.
I too met Jack on a number of occasions whilst working or supporting our great little club. Always a smile and a cheery hello regardless of the weather. A face that will be missed at the club by many. Mr Accrington Stanley says it all.

Perhaps a pre-season game v Formby as a memorial game to raise funds?

Re: In Hope.

I am still hopeful that we can get the Main Stand re-named in Honour of Jack and I can think of no more fitting tribute than to possibly do it at the First Home match of the Season while the eyes of the nation are upon on Our Little Club also could also make into a real Accrington Stanley day.

Some funding is in place just need the go ahead and we can move it forward.

Nothing to lose, can't see anyone offering to sponsor the main stand & give us a shedload for it, let's at least honour one of our own.
