In Hope.

Through out our lives people touch us in many ways; often they will be unmet, a stranger, a face in a crowd, an image in an old photograph or book.

This individual will impact on the generation before himself, is own and for many generations that will follow.

A man like this is a true saviour, a ledged, a friend, a supporter. A man that should never be allowed to be forgotten

A man who deserves to be marked and remembered not only to us that knows of him. But to those that follow through the gates in generations to come.

For this reason I would call on us all the build a tribute worth the effort and the determination shown by this man.

It will fall to the supporters to make this happen, finically more than anything. A gate, a stand, even a ground.

This is a man that gives us our team, our hope, and our pride.

Rest easy. You will never be forgotten.

In Respect.

Re: In Hope.

Does the main stand have a name?
The last I remember was the 'Frazer Eagle'
Is it now appropriate for the club to re-name it the

'Jack Barrett' stand?

Jack's passing has touched us all... for he pointed the way by showing everybody concerned with and about Accrington Stanley the true way to love and follow their hopes and aspirations for the Club.
He was a real gentleman and an inspiration to so many through the years and we will miss him !

Re: In Hope.

I'm not a religious man so I wont offer words of god or otherwise, but Jack was a man who directly or indirectly has affected every single one of you who read this forum on anything more than a casual basis.

Many people offered more, and many people offered the same, but Jack offered words at a time when there were none, he offered inspiration at a time when we had none, he offered hope where nothing was forthcoming. He offered Stanley a future.

For all the years I have supported Stanley and for every time I have tried to drum up support for causes I have often thougt of Jack for my inspiration. Selfishly, the times that he is quoted as being the man that that breathed life back into the club ... I aspire to be that man should the time arise. Unselfishly, the times that he is quoted as being the man that that breathed life back into the club, I aspire to be that man.

A happier and merrier public man than Jack Barrett will be hard to find and if the legacy that I can leave my club in 60 years time is that the crowd chant my name during a minutes round of applause then I'll have died a happy man

Re: In Hope.

Away from t'Stanley, Jack was a man who loved the town and its people. He held a pilot's licence and took many photos from on high. He was very generous man with these photos, many of which have been deposited in the library. A delight to talk with .
Some may not know, and therefor may not understand my posting earlier, that he was a roofing contractor. When discussing the rebirth with him, he had the grace to laugh when I quipped, "Some folk will think that you have a slate loose, Jack, trying to get t'Stanley up and running again""

Legend is an accolade afforded to few. In the case of Jack, never more so deserved.

Rest in Peace Jack.
