Re: Interesting Fixtuers to come for the top teams
What he's trying to say is that x amount of teams can't get maximum points -they can only get xy points. Therefore we don't need to equal or better the run in of z teams only z-xy. But he can't be arsed to do the equation so he's posted it for someone else to find the answer to as to how many points we need.

Re: Interesting Fixtuers to come for the top teams
Okidoki, to try to clean it up a bit for those that like this sort of thing (obviously I dont ....). All based on played 40 games.
Wycombe game in hand 67 points still to play
Oxford, Torquay and Bury all away
Shrewsbury 66 points still to play
us and Oxford at home
-------------------------------------------------automatic places ---------------
Bury game in hand 65 points still to play
Wycombe at home and Chesterfield and Satanage away
Satanage 63 points still to play
Port Vale and Bury at home
Torquay 62 points still to play
Port Vale, Wycombe and Chesterfield at home and Rotherham away
Gillingham 61 points still to play
Rotherham and Chesterfield away
------------------------------------------------play off places ------------------
Us game in hand 60 points still to play
Oxford at home and Shrewsbury away
Port Vale 60 points still to play
Torquay and Satanage away
Rotherham 59 points still to play
Gillingham and Torquay at home
Oxford 56 points rank outsiders still to play
Wycombe and Chesterfield at home and us and Shrewsbury away
as an aside Morecambe can help us by beating Gillingham and Port Vale. The real interesting one though will be Barnet. Still scrapping for their lives, new manager and they have Crewe at home followed by 5 games against teams going for the play offs Bury (a) Gillingham (a) Oxford (h) us (a) and Port Vale (h). Looks to me like they WILL get points out of that little lot, just who though will massivelly affect the outcome of the play offs.
For my predictions
Oxford have too much to do and have too hard a run in OUT
Rotherham on the slide but with only two rival games and both at home they may have chance to pull it around OUT
Port Vale seem to have recovered from the recent Gannon wobbles (could be new terminology - 'GANNON' definition, they have Gannon a bad run) PLAY OFFS if they beat Stevenage last game
Us fantastic form and relatively easy run in. Should make it without even allowing for the game in hand. PLAY OFFS
Gillingham another team in good form and with a relatively easy run in PLAY OFFS
Torquay have had a good run and can't be faulted for that but in my opinion have a horrendous run in and will fall just short OUT
Satanage Borough (Borough cos it will annoy them) solid and consistent and on as good a run as we are but I think they are going to slip a little as they lack flair players. Hardest games are at home where they are strong. PLAY OFFS if they beat Port Vale last game of the season
Bury will stay the course despite losing the manager, it will probably inspire them. Game in hand but two tough away games. AUTO
Shrewsbury will lose to us but have enough points in the bag to remain in the PLAYOFFS
Wycombe have a tough looking three away games but again have enough points in the bag and a game in hand to remain in the AUTO's

Re: Interesting Fixtuers to come for the top teams
yeah Chesterfield are away innit? I also discounted Crewe as I think seven points is too much to make up now, with only six games left and five teams in front of them.

Re: Interesting Fixtuers to come for the top teams
Hereford could have a say in things; they're still not out of the mire. They did us a big favour by taking a point at Gillingham at the weekend and they've still to play Wycombe (tomorrow night) and Shrewsbury at home and Rotherham away.
And I don't expect Northampton, below Hereford in 21st, will come out of their home games against Bury, Rotherham and Shrewsbury completely pointless. They also play Wycombe away.
But, with eight of the current top eleven teams playing each other on the last day of the season and the other three (including us) all playing away, I can see this going all the way to 7 May.

Re: Interesting Fixtuers to come for the top teams
What a bizarre set of fixture lists ...
this Saturday, all of the top-8 clubs play away from home
the following Saturday, all of the top-8 clubs play at home
there should be some changes in the playoff position this weekend!

Re: Interesting Fixtuers to come for the top teams
All I see is If we win the next 2 games then beat Shrews its all pressure on Bury and Shrew with us rolling for 3rd.

Re: Interesting Fixtuers to come for the top teams
For what it's worth (probably not a lot) I've done predictions for all the remaining games involving the Top 11 (down to Oxford), using a few rules I invented before the Shots game, which produces a final table like so:
1 Chesterfield 91
2 Wycombe 80
3 Bury 78
4 Shrewsbury 76
5= Stevenage 73
5= Stanley 73
7 Port Vale 72
8 Gillingham 70
9= Torquay 69
9= Rotherham 69
11 Oxford 64
That assumes we win all our home games, lose to Macc and Shrewsbury and draw at Burton. I don't really think we can hope to win all the homes but equally I think we will probably get more than 1 point from 3 aways.
Mind, of the results that have come in since I did this, I've got 14 right and 12 wrong so as I said, probably not worth very much!
