Ipswich Fans on Roberts
This is a comment from Ipswich's fans forum:
"Roberts has got to be signed by Ipswich ** NOW ** or someone will come in & nick him from Ipswich, I only hope Ipswich do not mess up on this player. "
A web page I read yesterday indicates they have paid Stanley a "five figure" loan fee.
I heard his full home debut on Radio Sheffield today. Notwithstanding the 0 - 2 result he turned in a pretty good performance.

Re: Ipswich Fans on Roberts
As a resident Tractorboy I totally agree that Gary has added something that we have not had for a while..a natural winger with a trick who can get the ball in the box and also chip in with a few goals too.. Was at the match yest and he was one of the best players on the field.
Had inside info from down 'ere that the deal is already done with fee of £200,000.
I liked him at Accy and think he fits in here, I had a chat with him last week and he is feeling settled but he still keeps an eye on Stanleys results. If im selfish I hope we keep him but with a decent fee so you get a new roof, before I come up in Feb for the Stockport game!!

Re: Ipswich Fans on Roberts
I have heard that figure rumoured in the press as well.
I read that Ipswich had gone for Roberts now because they may not have been able to match his escalating transfer valuation had they awaited the January window. You may think that statement suggests that a valuation or at any rate a maximum valuation has been agreed.
However this inference may be incorrect as I also read a statement from a similar source that no fee had been agreed.

Re: Ipswich Fans on Roberts
I think the club should have been aware of his escalating transfer value and should have held off as long as possible. Could have been one of the most popular stanley auctions this year!

Re: Ipswich Fans on Roberts
I agree Macca, still....If he scores against Norwich (aka The 'Scum') on Sunday he will be worth millions, I will start the collection from the Ipswich fans..!!
Having been in a similar situation over the years when bigger clubs come sniffing for your best players at a 'Snip' eg Darren Bent, Matt Holland etc, it is hard to a) turn down the offer for the sake of progression and, b) Stiffle the players ambitions.
Whatever the outcome of this I just hope it is sorted in the best interest of both clubs.
Good to talk guy's.

Re: Ipswich Fans on Roberts
Now 6 games without Roberts and we have yet to win a game without penalties, £200,000 is no where near enough, Eric I hope you haven't sold us short

That price is good business for a Division 2 player going to the Championship.

Not too sure about that when Peterborough where offering £1million for an MK Dons player.

And Hartlepool sold Boyd to Luton for half a million.

Re: Ipswich Fans on Roberts
Gary Roberts once again looked very good today but for the 7th game in a row we have not won since he left not including penalties, his replacement as many people see him Sean Doherty played like a bag of s***e. Eric I hope the figure of £200,000 is not true because I think we have been sold very short of his true value.

Re: Ipswich Fans on Roberts
BBC radio commentators said he was outstanding, too, and he is "Man of the match" in todays Daily Mail.
Surely performances like this equate to more money for us in January if he is there on a true, legal loan deal or is there a "gentleman's agreement" which means he has to join Ipswich and at a fixed fee? ****** a gentleman's agreement, say I.
My aching bones from Saturday say we want a roof out of it as well as plenty of cash for other things.

Re: Ipswich Fans on Roberts
Watched theTractor boys against the bumpkins yesterday and Roberts was really good. The commentators were raving about him and mentioned that there was 4 premiership scouts at the game and must have noticed Roberts performance. They also said he would be able to fit in at any level. Tell Eric to ask top dollar.
