Is it just me?
Since I don't get to watch the team on the pitch, I have to rely on you good people to gain a feel for how well they are playing or how poor their current form is. I can sense a cautious optimism from most postings and, I must confess, it's beginning to rub off on me.
However, the other thing I keep a close eye on is the stat sheet and that, unfortunately, is providing a bit of worry. I do acknowledge that numbers and statistics can typically be massaged to deliver whatever message the presenter intends but the fact remains that our results against the teams closest to us have been rather less than spectacular. We have taken only 5 points of a possible 18 from the five sides directly below us in the table (3 from Grays and 2 from two games with Halifax) and must face positions 2 through 5 yet again. Granted, three of those matches will be played out in the friendly confines of the IES but I feel we need a much better outcome from these games if we are to realize the dream of League football next year.
With your kind indulgence, I have taken the liberty of posting a table of our remaining fixtures with the oppositions current table position and the previous result this season. Home matches are in bold. Please tell me I'm just worrying needlessly...
