You can almost touch it......
It is time Friday 6th Aug 2010. The 2010/11 season begins. For football fans everywhere tonight will be a restless night, with the excitement of the new season fresh in the mind as the countdown to kick off continues. All is ready at the Crown Ground for our opening game of the season on Saturday afternoon against Aldershot, and by the time kick off comes at 3pm the excitement will have reached it's peak. Extensive work has been carried out around the ground with the moving of the stadium control room, the installation of our new irrigation system, the complete overhaul of the playing surface and the development of additional seating and terracing areas to continue to raise our capacity. All this together with hundreds of hours put in by volunteers to give the stadium a fresh lick of paint has left our home of football looking better than ever. Once again we start at the top of the league, albeit alphabetically, however with a more than capable squad assembled by John Coleman and Jimmy Bell optimism is high here at Accrington Stanley. The team flirted with the play offs for much of the 2009/10 season and although some players have moved on to other clubs the new signings have put in some very impressive pre-season performances and have gelled well with the rest of the side. It is time for the football to do the talking, the opening day of the season will hopefully attract a good crowd, encourage your family, friends and neighbours to come along and get involved in our great football club. Saturday could just be the start of something special. We are Stanley.
