Re: jack rose

Another one gone down to a squad of 22 now I believe including 3 young lads money must be really tight can we really mount a play off push with such a thin squad even JC mentioned dwindling gates in Telegraph tonight well done the apathetic Accy public.

Can you blame the "apathetic" Accy public when most of them are being charged £20 a game for fourth division football? It's ludicrous pricing.

It seems that the decision makers at the club would rather have 1,000 people in at £20 a pop than 1,500 people at £15 a pop. Coley himself isn't happy with the hike in home ticket prices.

There is always a hardcore number of fans at any football club, but the casual fans, floaters, drifters or whatever you want to call them need to be given a reason to get down to the Crown.

The more successful Accrington Stanley is, the more bums will be on seats at 3pm on Saturday afternoons.

I realise it's a Catch-22 situation as the club needs the money from the people to put back into the squad but, simultaneously, pricing people out of going to the game isn't the way to go.

Re: jack rose

We've had this argument about gate prices ad nauseum on here. Others will no doubt point out that entrance has even been FREE with little or no increase on attendances.

Well please tell us the way to go? The club tried all sorts of pricing including cheaper,

I'm no marketing expert by any means - ultimately, I'm just a fan with a big mouth - but, from my experiences, there are a couple of things I've picked up on.

Cheaper pricing on a permanent basis would be a start as more people would be likely to come if they've nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon and see that Stanley are at home.

On a couple of occasions this season I've heard people inside the ground say that they came down to the Crown because they had nothing on but were surprised at the £20 entry so they shan't be making it a regular venture but they would do if it was cheaper.

Offering deals to Stanley fans would also help. Does it not annoy people that these "show your colour" promotions give discount to fans of other clubs yet genuine Stanley fans are still expected to pay full whack? It doesn't feel as though Stanley supporters are valued.

I appreciate that the club has to try and attract the casual/floater fans to the matches, but treating those who already turn up with a tad more respect would help.

Re: jack rose

Theres been quite a few deals this season, The flexi-tickets are good value, i doubt very much though if cheaper pricing on a permanent basis would increase the gates by anything significant? they certainly didn't when they were cheap.

Re: jack rose

What's the price of fish got to do with Jack Rose ( good luck to him, btw)?

If StanleyAccrington wants to look, there are dozens of posts over the past five years about entrance prices.
He/she could perhaps also look into what the club have actually done to make season tickets, flexi tickets, 'mate's tickets' etc etc more affordable in a business whose finances make no more sense than some of Davo's posts.
If there all these thousands of 'floating' fans out there why didn't they, as Cashy says, turn up last season when it was £17 for a walk-on? Or was that too much then as well? Like it was too much when it was £15....£13....2 shillings.

Just take solace in the fact that supporting Stanley in the Football League is an exclusive privilege, for the few not the fickle.

I presume he means Mr.Hatfield (?).
I have sympathy with Mab's point but, if the manager has never appeared to think a player is good enough to claim a starting place, it's possible that the manager also doesn't think that player has any value.
One unknown (at least to me) is whether Halifax would have paid anything, or been able to pay anything.
If not, maybe Professor Coleman has done the right thing by allowing Hatfield to get on with his career with a club that suits him, rather than hang out for months for a fee that might never have arrived from another club.

Re: jack rose

Regards the ticket prices, my opinion is that we DO have the crappest ground and facilities in the Football League and pricing should reflect that. You also have to take into account the local economy, which is never great in Accrington. £20 IS ridiculous, as was £17 with category A,B,C deviations or pay online to save £2 etc etc.

The club changes strategy every season and has no medium to long term plan, it's all about the immediate. At the end of this season the bean counters will deem this season's price structure to have been a success due to the fact that it will have brought in a modicum more beans, however the longer term damage will be unfathomable.

There has to be a plan put into place where a permanent pricing structure is agreed and some sort of marketing ploy built onto the back of it. It's quoted in this thread that even FREE admission didn't work. Well, yes it did quite frankly as there were over 4000 in the ground. We've tried £5 tickets and they didn't work. Well, yes they did quite frankly as each game showed an increase on previous gates. But one-offs aren't any kind of yardstick. For example, if we decided to do £5 a game all season long we would have a yardstick to measure against. That could be a financial disaster or it could be a stroke of genius.

The strategy this year is to fleece the one-offs and those who have the brass to fund season tickets or flexi tickets pay an acceptable price - that's fine by me but it doesn't persuade me to come if I'm umming and aahing (managed one home game this season). Flexi tickets could easily be replaced with Multi-tickets and get 3for2. The one-off attendee still gets fleeced but those more local are likely to attend 2 games rather than 1.

The top and bottom of it for me is that for a number of years I have been unable to answer a simple question. "how much is it to get on?" Buggared if I know is my usual answer because it chops and changes too much. Decide once and for all, stick to it, market it.
