Jan Window
A few weeks ago several people on this forum were looking forward with eager anticipation to all the progress that we were going to make in the New Year with the signing of this mid-European guy Jan Whatsisname. It might be worth noting that, at this point all we’ve got is an experienced yellow card collector and the best left-sided player in the league, whom we chose to play at right back. Perhaps a timely reminder is due that the wonderful Jan, (whoever he is!), has only 7 days left!

Spot on Yonmon Dionne Warwick was the first
The song "Wishin' and Hopin'," by Hal David and Burt Bacharach, was first recorded by Dionne Warwick in the spring of 1963. It was on the "B"-side of her single "This Empty Place" (two songs were recorded on a 45, one on each side, and the expected hit always went on the "A" side). But it did not become a top ten hit in the US until Dusty Springfield recorded it in 1964.

Nothing on here has ever made me feel as old as I do after reading this. I never thought that the time would come when someone had to explain a 45!

'Living in Amnesia Alley' does, unfortunately Dave, come to us all eventually !!...but like Cashy I CAN and do remember the struggles and frustrations within the Club and we fans whilst striving to achieve League status and would not relish a return to those times !.
As to Jan Window !.. another equation comes to mind...'Insufficient Capital = No purchasing power = No new Commodities acquired'( In this case the appropriate Players for the deficiencies in the ASFC squad.).
I would definitely not like Leam Richardson's task regarding the acquisition of new players at this time one little bit, but hope beyond hope that those players around him will find the will to rise to the stern challenge which faces them over the coming weeks.
