Jimmy Ryan
Was reading on Sky Sports website earlier that Jimmy Ryan looks set to sign a new contract. Just curious as to whether this comes as a bit of surprise to some or whether this had been anticipated for some time. Its always great when a key player re-signs but I presumed, wrongly obviously, that with so many other division two clubs having a bigger fanbase (and presumably bigger budget) that he would be a target of many other sides who could perhaps offer a more lucrative or longer contract, especially since he was out of contract. Don’t get me wrong, delighted that doesn’t appear to be the case but it just surprised me a little.
Ok, slightly eerie, but currently watching the results page on sky sports and the man in question has just bagged the second goal!!!

Re: Jimmy Ryan
Think its a great sign and shows a statement of intent from the club. I did think that we would loose him in the summer (Sorry MCR/Grimps for being negative ) but lets face it Jimmy is a very promising young talent and has been without doubt Mr. Consistent for us this season and its a long time since Mullers has been outscored.... And yes I did think that somebody would have wafted their cheque book £££££ and off into the sunset goes another one - no contract = no fee but brilliant to see ERIC WAFTING HIS CHEQUE BOOK and hopefully its a decent contract so we have something to look forward to in the coming years
On a final note I think it also shows - in my opinion - what is going on behind the scenes, for Jimmy to be "Made up" and feel that he can "Relax" knowing he has a team for next summer - laughable that he would not - must mean that there is a good bond between the players and a great team spirit Onward and upwards next season.

Re: Jimmy Ryan
There was probably an option clause in his contract that allows us to sign him for another year. Incidentally according to the Telegraph he has been left out of the Irish under 21 squad so he won't miss the away game at Rotherham.

I do not think you are being negative as myself thought we would lose him in the summer to a club offering more money, better facilities etc, maybe even a higher league becuase i think he could play at higher than league 2! Let's hope that he does play higher but only with stanley when they get promotion next year . He has played very very well all season, like you said Mr. Consistent, he has scored some brillant goal's this season. No one can say he does not deserved a place in the first 11 because he does he plays well in the centre and on the wing, he works very hard and is very promising young talent. Am glad he has (nearly) signed a new contract for next season as it shows promise for the club that they are not going to lose a talented player for free and also shows that they are building a strong, talented team which will lead us to league 1. I agree with the last bit you posted aswell i read that in the paper last night that he can relax knowing he has a team for next year, I think there is a great team spirt because last night when him and procter scored all the players went up to celebrate with them. I hope we can keep most of the team for next season and be able to sign Charnock. Onwards and Promotion next season

Re: Jimmy Ryan
I think we need to get Chris Turner tied up quickly as well, he has shown far more promise than the much lauded Bobby Grant.
3 man of the match awards from 5 home starts?

Re: Jimmy Ryan
Ryan hasn't actually signed yet, so I'd hang on before making a comment.

Re: Jimmy Ryan
I agree he said he is close to signing so it looks like he wants to sign for another year proberly just sorting out like bonuses and other things. Yeh i would get Turner snapped up quickly aswell! He played brillant last night on the wing. Grant aint played much since his knee injury! I would get the both signed up for another year though.

Re: Jimmy Ryan
Yeah Ryan's Mum and Dad was talking to Jimmy in Cuba and saying Shrewsbury let him go so Jimmy invited him up to Stanley for a trail. Thats what he LET wrote anyway.

Re: Jimmy Ryan
Jimmy bell writes in the LET today saying
Coley deserves a medal for the work he has done this season with the budget and so on. Also he goes on to say Jimmy Ryan is the find of the season and they have offered him a 2 year contract as they did not want other clubs offering for him. He says they are going to wait until end of the season until they offer the rest of the contracts so they know the budget, but they want to keep more players than they did last season. I think it's brilliant jimmy has got offered a year contract should offer more players more of these 2 year contracts. Edwards, Kenny, Turner, Grant etc.
