Re: Johnny Coleman - Football Genius
Give 'em as long as they want. I still can't get my head around how they got the performances/results that they did amidst the darkest times in the post-'62 history of the club. And there is no sense whatsoever that the fight is over; optimism and ambition to 'push on' remain in abundance. Here types one who has been a foolish and fickle mong, uttering things like 'gone as far as they can'. Wiser ones knew that even though some performances at times were less than inspiring, John & Jimmy were doing a great job building an established Football League team. With the increase in quality of football and player we've seen in the past couple of seasons, we know that the skills are there to back up the ambition. Jobs for life.

willie
obviously living a distance away and not being up on the day to day gossip........is there really a Coley out mob still out there, surely this is the best side/squad that we have ever had and built on a shoestring...Coley and Jimmy should be given the freedom of the town and honoury degrees from Accy Uni (if it existed)

Re: Johnny Coleman - Football Genius
the management duo have their frailties (as do we all) but if any doubt lingered at the start of the season then the past two months should have dispelled it all.
Almost all other clubs fans dislike Coley for his outspoken views of the matches, but he is our Brian Clough. Make em both directors and hope that their uncanny ability to turn things around can rub off on the club as well as the team!

The transformation is because we have finally got rid of the Unibonders - Cav, Rocky and Mully. They should have gone when we got into the Football League.

Re: Johnny Coleman - Football Genius
Jeff
diagree mate.
Mullin was essential in keeping us up in our first year back in the league.
Cav, despite the gambling issues was always exciting going forward and held his own in the football league.
Age finally caught Mullin out (although he is still a great target man when teams are under pressure and need a release to hold the ball up) and injurys/circumstance caught up with Cavanagh.

Re: Johnny Coleman - Football Genius
No question Mullers was a fantastic servant to the club, but i agree that age did finally catch up with him.
Symes looks a revalation op front now as we all know.
I was a big Cav fan but agreed he was way to injury prone, and thankfully we have Leeds, Kempson etc etc so we wont ever need to go back to that era
