Stanley Reserves 2-1 Rochdale Reserves
Stanley Reserves ran out 2-1 winners over Rochdale Reserves last night. Both sides had first team players involved, with Stanley fielding Ian Dunbavin, Leam Richardson, Phil Edwards, Paul Carden and Shaun Whalley. Next Wednesday the Reserves are away at Tranmere Rovers, kick off 7.00pm.
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
I believe that Shaun Whalley was amongst the scorers.

Re: last nights reserve game
I was there for the 1st half, Sean Whalley scored Stanley's first goal then Rochdale had a man sent off for a two footed challenge on Peter Murphy. Phil Edwards was quite upset (to say the least) by the challenge & Leam had to calm him down. Quite an interesting first half really

Re: last nights reserve game
The winner was scored by a young Portugese lad who was brought over by somebody from Macclesfield and is supposedly mustard. Macclesfield got him from Sunday League and he was offered a contract but didnt like it there. Scored with the 3rd shot after Whalley missed a penalty and then the rebound into the roof of the net and looked sharp.

Should go down well with Coleman, then.

Re: last nights reserve game
I was talking to this bloke at half time, he said he was a manager for a Sunday league team in Congleton. The Young Portugese lad he brought with him lives in Macclesfield, he came over to England 18 months ago with his parents and speaks excellent English. He had a trial with Macclesfield who were very impressed, he didn't like the set up so never went back.
The young lad came on as a second half sub, his first touch of the ball was a fierce drive that hit the angle of the goal, A mighty impressive shot subsiquent shots were hit hard and staight. He was also very busy and made himself availiable for many passes.
I was quite impressed, and hope the club invite him back for a proper look.
Rochdale also had a man sent off in the second half for two yellows.
for much of the first half and about twenty minutes of the second half, there was a young lad in front of me giving the Rochdale goalie some stick and abuse, after he left another young lad came over wearing a similar top. When we got the penalty Whalleys attempt was saved then the follow up was also well saved, before the young Portugese lad knocked the ball in. A guy next to me said "well done 'keeper for the 2 saves" the 'keeper turned round, and said well it shut that little so and so up, looking at the young lad next to me. The young lad was mortified, he hadn't a clue what that was for. I explained that another yougster had been giving the goalie some stick earlier, to which he replied "what was he doing with a stick". Further explanations satisfied the young lad and he went away happy. The joy of innocence.

Re: last nights reserve game
Liked that story, Redash.
I left at half time, not surprised Whalley missed pen. After he scored the fortuitous header Coley shouted him over, " Shaun, don't lose the ball, I'll be counting." In one ear, out the other.
Whalley could be good, but this season he's doing a very good impression of a headless chicken.

Re: last nights reserve game
So, young Portuguese lad, lives in Cheshire. Not called Cristiano by any chance?
