Agreed. Will certainly give them a good reception before the game but will save 'the' song for after the final whistle. Don't want to spur him on now do we

Re: Lets give Jimmy and Bobby the receptions they deserve tonight.
I went the match last night as a scunthorpe fan and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I felt the need to join this forum only because I'm appalled at Cashmans comment on jimmy Ryan's injury? Says a lot about oneself when you applaud a player for going in behind someone and injurying them on purpose. No matter what team you support to support any footballer for behaving in that way is a disgrace no matter who the player plays for. From other threads I've seen on here when researching Jimmy, I believe he gave his all to the club, so why the negativity from yourself?

Dean Winnard did NOT injure Jimmy Ryan on purpose. Dean is a hard player but is a fair professional. His tackle was clumsy, not vicious. The tackle happened right in front of me and you could see the instant disappointment on Dean's face that he'd made such a clumsy challenge. He went to help Jimmy but was pushed away. Just wanted to set that straight.

Re: Lets give Jimmy and Bobby the receptions they deserve tonight.
I think we all know deano and jimmy arent best mates, anybody remember last season?? If it was what u call a clumsy tackle, then its the hardest clumsy tackle ive ever seen.
99% of us want nothing more than jimmy to do well hes a legend to me and others who appreciate what he did, as seen by me and a few others wearing our ryan shirts last night.
I also thought the cheers from a select number in the clayton end when he went off where a disgrace.

Re: Lets give Jimmy and Bobby the receptions they deserve tonight.
It's nothing short of ridiculous to think that Dean Winnard would go into a tackle with the intention of injuring another player just because of some schoolyard grudge. It's laughable in fact. Deano's committed but he's a good professional, he ain't no Roy Keane. Dean was visibly disappointed in himself for the clumsiness of the tackle as I'm sure others can confirm.

Re: Lets give Jimmy and Bobby the receptions they deserve tonight.
I think i better put this to bed smudgie,Dean and Jimmy have always got along, when they had a bust up against bradford last year(they were winning 3-0 at the time),it was all over jimmy not tracking back and allowing a cross to come in,they are both fierce determined players.
Last night, jimmy took the huff because before the game Dean jokingly told him,"sorry jimmy, but the gaffer says i have got to give you a kick".
He didnt go to "do" jimmy, indeed it was his first tackle, but jimmy obviously thought he did after what was said.
Deans a tough competitor, but hes not dirty. He gets elbowed and kicked and just gets on with it.
He again tried to apologise after the game, but jimmy was having none of it.
Not long after jimmy went off,one of scunnys players tried to do dean(he just managed to get his leg out the way),but thats the game.
Then Granty had a go with a headbutt, and a sly dig(which dean found amusing),those type of antics are those of a coward.

Re: Lets give Jimmy and Bobby the receptions they deserve tonight.
Agree with Shaker , the tackle was a bit clumsy but Winnards face said it all , he was truly sorry for the injury , when he offered a helping hand Jimmy pushed him away. Now go back to last season,Jimmy would have battle on with the game regardless of any injury . I personally feel that perhaps( and I do mean perhaps) Jimmy did not want to play against us in the first place , so maybe this was an " excuse " to leave field of play. And before I am accused of saying Jimmy was faking the injury , it was a genuine injury but maybe not as severe as made out. As regards the result , we deserved to lose. My neck had a creak in it as I didn't need to move it all the game ha,ha. It can only get better . I do hope Mr Coleman has bought a mouthwash to use before the next game.

Re: Lets give Jimmy and Bobby the receptions they deserve tonight.
I'm a long life Grimsby fan but have decided as accrington stanley as my 2nd team and i was there last night ... the challenge was just silly, it wasn't malicious (i can't spell).
Stanley dominated 1st and made the Scunts look ****. Scunny come out 2nd half and to be fair dominated which is a shame.
Atmosphere wasn't as good as I've seen and been in, in the past but I stil enjoyed my night. Hopefully see you all next Tuesday night, looks like I may be on crutches though so don't push to much in the Clayton End I don't fancy crawling around
