Line up v Carlisle

Accrington Stanley
D Alcock, P Howarth, R Williams, M Flynn, C Butler, L McEvilly, S Jagielka, A Proctor, I Craney, R Prendergast, P Mullin
Subs: G Brannan, J Smith, S Flitcroft, P Cook, D Hindle

If the above line up (taken from the BBC Live Text web page) is correct who would be used as a back-up keeper if Alcock were to be injured or otherwise disqualified and unable to continue the match?

Looks like Crichton could not travel from Norwich, we are now making allowances for players when we wouldn't do it earlier - Jamie Speare

crichton has apparently got flu, although as usual the romour mill is at full pelt, saying that the management have already got sick of him. Personally I don't rate him much as a keeper so hopefully it's true!!! Danny played really well last night, and was completely gutted in the clubhouse after the game. Chin up Danny your first half saves were top notch and kept us in the game at a vital time, I dread to think what the score would have been with Crichton between the sticks!!!

Re: Line up v Carlisle

Thank you for the update on Crichton's status. I am still curious as to which player would have been pressed into service had a replacement been required for Alcock. Do any of the other players have any experience as a 'keeper or would it be a case of merely handing off the gloves and hoping for the best?

i know that jimmy bell had a few games in goal last season for the reserves but he wasnt on the bench either so i would guess it would be hand the gloves over to smithy as he always seems to go in the nets in the warm up

Re: Line up v Carlisle

Lee McEvilly played several games in goal for Rochdale a couple of seasons back, and to be honest if he came rushing out to close me down while i was shooting I probably run in the other direction!!!!

Possibly a future tactic for the management to try!!!!
