Re: Local Residents
For teh sake of one and occasionally the odd two games a fortnight & for 90 minutes this request is simply one too many to capitulate to. After all what is football all about if not the encouragement of fans for their team. I seriously hope & consider that this is pure newspaper hype & those making such a request are a minority. As with the tip scenario, the club has been in evidence at its location for long enough, the indications as to the clubs aspirations have not been hidden so why try & put us down in such a manner. These residents expect & receive reason but it also has to be two way. As a potential steward next season I do not expect my time to be taken up shushing the crowd & hoding up "please be quiet-you might wake up a neighborhood resident" placard, nor do I expect does Mick & others giving our time for the club in this regard. I have never heard the residents of Ewood or Trf Moor come out with such jibberish over the past years. Unfortunately if such unreasonable requests continue some may well take into their heads to be unreasonable back, which is only adding fuel to the fire & definitely what the club does not need!

Re: Local Residents
Over here in NZ,up in Auckland in fact(not really a part of REAL NZ ),there is a speedway track that has been going for 70 odd years.Last year, the residents of surrounding streets complained to the council about the noise levels, and were determined to have it closed down. The speedway was cancelled for much of the season, tests were done, council meetings held, spleens were vented. Finally, the speedway started up again -with restrictions. The curious things about the whinging were; It had been there 70 years, the residents hadn't ;no complaints were ever made over the numerous rock concerts etc(Rolling Stones and the like) that are held there regularly even though the decibel(sp) levels were higher for concerts than the speedway! While all this debate was going on,one TV station showed footage of one of the main protagonists 'rocking 'away with her family and friends from the comfort of her backyard overlooking the arena which the 'stones were playing at the time.!
Your problem is oh so common.Goodluck.

Surley if the local ppl have a complaint they should go to their ward rep and not to one that is willing to knock ASFC at any chance or am I being to IN-PC if you know what I mean!!!!

The FES is in Mlinshaw ward, so the local people have gone to their local ward councillors.

Re: Local Residents
I think thats its really wrong for you all to be slagging off the ward councillors I have had help from Malcolm and Clare in the past and they are both really supportive of Stanley BUT they realise that people have to live in the area and after all they get all the complaints from the residents. In fairness they are doing their best and they are getting nothing but slagged off from all sides. They can't win.

Re: Local Residents
I really don't think anyone from Livingstone Rd has a substantial argument.
Chavs on motorbikes whizz round there 24 hours a day & they can't put up with a football atmosphere for 90 minutes twice a week?
Idiots.

Re: Local Residents
Just thought I'd stick my two penneth in here. I'm all in favour of fans shouting at Accy home games. I live so close to the ground my wife can here when we score, so it gives her a bit of warning whether I'm walking home in a good mood or thoroughly cheesed off. I have however heard criticism of the constant drumming from within the ground on match days.
As a local resident myself I would like to suggest to other residents to stop whingeing about the noise and instead go and support your local team and make a bit more noise to encourage our lads as they embark on a new era in the Football League. This is typical of English mentality to knock our own football teams when they are doing well.

Re: Local Residents
The drums I can happily live without. IMO, they're irritating and quite frankly contribute about as much to the atmosphere as a pneumatic road drill but singing, shouting and swearing at the referee are essential weekly therapy.
Practically, it has to be impossible to enforce a quiet football crowd so what's the worst the council can do? (Or would I rather not know!)
Right, I'm off to e-bay to bid on an air horn!!!

Re: Local Residents
Although I don't have a good football team in my village I can't say I know what it's like to have moaning residents breathing down your necks, but if I remember rightly most football grounds especially old were always on a housing estate, I used to goto Roker Park(Sunderland) when I was little and I don't ever remember the residents of Roker and Fulwell kicking up a stink about it, the only time the residents in that area wouldn't be happy was if there was hooligan problems after the matches, I'm guessing Accy doesn't have a hoolie problem, if not, then the Natives should be getting behind there football team, this is a new era for Accrington, the whole town should be getting behind there team at this special time for you lot
