Re: Looking forward to tomorrow night.
The disallowed goal should have stood IMHO. A Charlton defender was trying to ‘shepherd’ a bouncing ball over the goal line for a goal kick. The Stanley forward ran round him from an onside position and then, from a position on the goal line beyond the post, he headed the ball backwards at a slight angle into the goal mouth and the ball was put over the goal line. The Stanley scorer could not be offside as the ball came backwards to him! The goal should have been allowed to stand.
I agree that Charlton were a good side and could have scored a couple more goals but for some great goal keeping by the young lad called Hood. Definitely a prospect for the future.
However, in the 83rd minute Hood drove the ball forward a bit like Savin did last Saturday. Our sub, number 17, broke through and was clearly tripped from behind by the last Charlton defender. IMHO, a 100% Red Card but the referee didn’t even give a foul!
Well done though by our young squad. Emerich Poilly was our best player again!
ON STANLEY ON.
