Re: damaged pride
Ummm ....
I support the club, not the management - management is only temporaray - and my pride in and support for the club that wouldn't die is not in any way damaged by managerial fiascos.
Only Norman's first point (and for my own peace of mind I choose not to believe his assertion - let''s remember nobody was charged with match fixing over the Bury game) could be a reason not to turn up to support the team.
Whilst I agree the management failed to capitalise on the return to the league, I don't see why that should have stopped Norman making the trip from Baxenden occasionally, assuming he knew it had happened. Nobody had to ask me to travel from Pompey to watch the first home game back in the league, and Rovers weren't playing that evening ....
And I don't think even the most arrogant management really expected 10000 Accringtonians to roll up at our 5000 capacity stadium
Respect to Norman for contributing to the fund (and now the debate), and no, of course he wasn't wrong to show his affection in that way. But if he really wanted to switch his allegiance to Stanley, he would have done so before the latest hoo-hah blew up. I think, whoever's in charge of ASFC at the time, he'll still be wearing blue and white and in despair the day we knock Rovers out of the Cup

ACCRINGTON Stanley fans want some answers about their club's battle for survival. We put the key questions to the Stanley Chief Executive Rob Heys.
Emma Cruces: Why has only £96,000 been paid to HMRC when the fundraising total has been at £116,000 for over a week and directors pledged £100,000 of their own cash?
Rob Heys: £96,000 is the amount that had cleared on the day. We were also able to put through a further £110,000 which will clear either today or tomorrow. Some credit card donations have taken four to six weeks to clear.
EC: In court your solicitor said that amount had been pledged by the PFA, so where is the rest of the fundraising cash?
RH: No that is a mix up. We have taken out a loan with the PFA which should have remained in our account but the fundraising cash is still going through. There is a lot of cash being sent to HMRC, which was not outlined in court.
EC: Where is the £100,000 pledged by the directors?
RH: I’m still waiting for those funds to clear, which should happen in the next seven days. The cash is from the remortgage of properties and that sort of cash is not something you can withdraw from a cash machine.
EC: A week ago you expected to have the cash on time. Was this delay not anticipated earlier?
RH: It was hoped that the money would come through a lot quicker than it did. The delay was longer than expected.
EC: Do Ilyas Khan and Peter Marsden want shares in return for the cash they have promised you?
RH: No, they have offered the money to make up the shortfall unconditionally.
EC: Protests for your resignation took place. Will you now resign?
RH: I can fully understand the fans’ anger and the reasons for the protest. What happens in the next week will have a bearing on that and hopefully the bill will be paid.
EC: So will you resign?
RH: Not immediately. Football clubs rely on their supporters, however. If that is what the fans deem necessary I will certainly listen. People are angry right now, but we need to see where we will be in the next day or so.
EC: On Tuesday you told the Lancashire Telegraph that well over £200,000 would be with HMRC on deadline from funds raised by the SoS campaign. A week ago you said you expected the entire amount would be with HMRC on deadline. Have you lied to us?
RH: No. People are very angry and that is to be expected. We have had unforeseen problems. Going forward the club is safe and well.

This Reported conversation bears a resemblance to some of the weird postings which I and Alfred.E. write together late at night after a Bottle and a half of Absolut Vodka...but never have the courage to submit to the Forum !!...and I too am at a loss to translate it into a meaningful entity !!.
Another wonderful example of Positive P-R ?????.
ps I am merging honestly Mel !!

Re: Lt 29/10/09
I think we can summarise - O'neill and Heys only care for their own jobs and important titles.
Anyone with the interest of ASFC would have taken the ASSF offer.
Neither of them have the abiliy to run a football club.
So many mistakes, so much lies and spin, so many bad decisions.
No more excuses - OUT.

Their credibilty is irredeemably shot to pieces and they surely cannot survive this. The whole rotten edifice must be swept away, later if not sooner.

Re: Lt 29/10/09
The more I read that interview, the angrier I become.
The simple fact of the matter is that had Ilyas & Peter Marsden not been in that court room, ASFC would have ceased to exist yesterday. For the club to say that they were waiting for the funds to clear so that the directors £100k could be paid is just not acceptable. It was their RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that money was available - they had known the deadline for long enough. Even if that part of the interview answer is true, it reveals incompetence of the highest order.
To claim some kind of mix-up in court is an expression of similar incompetence.
There should be no mention of "unforeseen difficulties". Competent managers foresee and anticipate difficulties - that is their job.
Finally, why is there no mention of those who supposedly reneged on loans? That seems to have been forgotten. Was it another part of the smokescreen?

Re: Lt 29/10/09
We need action NOW.
TRANSPENCY = Give us the facts about the actual financial state NOW.
HONESTY = DON and the board admitting that they need help NOW.
EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT = Positive action with UNITY to get the bill paid this week.
Q to DON - Why no statement on the club website follwing the court appearance and a thankyou to Ilyas for last minute rescue?
All the supporters want is some clear and honest information and to know DON's intentions.
