Re: manager of season
The Football Forum briefly mentioned this within the Team of the Year thread (that Ryan got in and Edwards just missed out). Coleman seemed the popular choice.
It's a shame because the winner of the league gets the official award more often than not, and that doesn't take into account what a manager has had to contend with to be in with a shout. Without doubt Coleman should get it.
And that creates further problems for us. The clamour for Coleys signature is only to going to get greater, along with that of numerous players. Coley has done admirably to stop with us as long as he has, how much longer can we hold bigger clubs at bay?

Re: manager of season
Several ways you can view it Rob
They are under long term contracts so that will scare some suitors off
If we do succeed in making League One it is yet another chance to pit their wits against higher opposition again and improve on their year on year improvements.
The prssure to a degree would be less at Stanley than the so called bigger clubs who may be interested.
I would think the Club depending how far we go in the play-offs will have a much improved revenue tap with tv money, gate receipts etc. to have a more meticulous business plan over the Summer, rather than players & staff being left in limbo as in previous seasons.

Re: manager of season
way i view it wi the contract length coley now has, would have to be n offer from a club of great stature, cos managers don't last 12 months at many clubs,so unless twas summat like that i'd stay........ but i aint coley. manager of season aint good enough- manager of the decade more like.

Re: manager of season
when Bradford came knocking they claimed they were put off as we wanted half his remaining contract paid up - about two years. How much does Coley earn, who knows? could be £20k could be £50k could be £100k. If it was the highest of those figures then how many clubs would be put off by £200k compo? not too many I wouldn't have though, remember Scunthorpe aren't the most affluent but paid £170k for Alan Knill.
Many true words said Pendle Red, but surely there comes a time in a managers career when he wants to see how far he could go? If for example he had been offered the Scunthorpe job, and managed to keep them up, could he have done a Stanley and threatened a Premiership promotion push the following season? He'd be one season away from a job amongst the Elite and that would mean paper talk about England jobs every time one of the foreign wallies gets us knocked out of a tournament.
We all expect that Coley will go sometime but this summer will be the hardest it's ever been to keep hold of him. If he is not offered good jobs this summer on the back of his now noticed success at our club then he never will be. Could he do a Dario Gradi and stay at the same club for ever? maybe if it was a club that could pay him what he was worth and develop a player or two here and there.

Re: manager of season
Also remember Jimmy Bell saying they reckon they can take Stanley as high as League 1 a few years back. That might be their limit.

Re: manager of season
According to my reckoning Coley will win the April Manager of The month award by a couple of points. Probably the best one to win as it's announced on Friday and if the curse strikes first match after it doesn't matter

The only other manager in contention is Richie Barker at Bury who's had six wins and one defeat as opposed to John and Jimmy who've had four wins and three draws. And, as he's only the caretaker manager and has won automatic promotion....

For some reason I didn't notice Barker was up for it, only saw Wycombe & Shrews bosses. Scrap my previous post
