Agreed - easily shaken off the ball and with a poor shot on him - apart from his goal at Hereford.
But back to the thread:-
I understand why many think Mangan should stay on the bench, but surely we must guard against him becoming disillusioned - I'm sure there are plenty of other clubs who would spirit him away given half a chance. Does he tire in the reserves over 90 minutes, Diesel?

With Mullin on 5 goals & Roberts on 7, I think the front two picks itself

I agree Mangy makes an impact for the final few minutes, but I think his finishing needs to improve to merit a start.

I'm happy with Doherty on the wing - not as strong or skillful as Bocco, but seems to be more direct and less elaborate than Roberts in that position

Re: Mangan to start?

thats a very good point redraine, people are under the assumption that mangan can only last ten minutes on the pitch. but he is playing 90 mins for the reserves and his goals speak for themselves. people only think he can last ten minutes because they only see him play ten minutes. coleman should give him a run of 3 or 4 games and then we can decide if he can last

If you give him a run of 3 or 4 games, who do you drop ? Last Saturday against Wycombe Roberts was back on the wing instead of up front with Mully. I think Roberts should return to up front and Doherty come back on to the wing.

Re: Mangan to start?

If you look at the goals gary has scored though, i think mangan would of scored them too. they have all been relatively simple goals, and a few just luck

Ole Gunner Mangan

Keep him as sub, bring him on with 20/30 minutes to go, in my very humble opinion

No goal is a simple goal. Also just look at the misses Mangy has had this season. Given the same opportunity Gary would have burried them.

Re: Mangan to start?

Give the lad a start. If Ian Craney andGary Roberts continue with the fancy footwork, and losing the ball too many times I would drop them both. Seems harsh I know when you consider what Gary has done, but they are both frustrating the hell outta me with trying the fancy flicks. Keep it simple lads please!!. Give Brown a chance and Ashley Foyle in the defence. I also think Phil Edwards is a far superior defender than Cav. Has anyone seen Rikki Bains play in the reserves.. How is he coming along. Are we going to have a challenge for the centre of defence? Just out of interest, according to the League paper, Cav has 5 yellows against his name, does this mean he misses this saturdays game against Swindon?

Reserve game tomorrow - lets see how he does. I presume Welchy won't have to play in this one!

A post on the Rivals Message Board from a Coventry lad rates him highly, & says he can play centre midfield as well.

Re: Mangan to start?

why are we so bothered about changing it at the moment??? we are playing well, and picking up points the other lads will get chances with injuries and suspensions its just up to them to play well when they are in the team

We have to change it - Boco is unavailable. Seems to me if ever Mangan is ever going to get a start it should be on Saturday. No need to drop anyone - Gary can play a bit further back than recently - see how it goes!

I think Coley will start Sean on left and Gary and Mullers up front
