Mangy for Mullin?

Not knocking Coleys team selections here but I would like to see Mangy given a start, he seems to give us a diiferent option and defenders hate players with pace who are also prepared to run at them.

Can't put my finger on it but PM just seems to look a little jaded at the minute, maybe could do with a rest. Am I being a little harsh here???

PS...thought that Rory made himself look a right plonker for his reaction to their goals......and how I laughed when he kicked the corner flag!! Good luck to him!!

Re: Mangy for Mullin?

Mullin could really do with missing a couple of games either for a rest or just to recharge or just to give him a kick up the arse. The problem is that he is central to our game. We couldn't play off Mangan as we do Mullin. Maybe David Brown, Brown, Brown could do that job but he isn't as much a threat to defenders in the air as El Baldo.

MULLIN FOR ENGLAND

Re: Mangy for Mullin?

Think Southport the game to rest Mullers as we should beat Port with Mangy & Boco or Brownie. Also, Mullers ain't getting any younger & a big target man to halve the burden should be a target in this transfer window

That said still think Mullers as good & as fit as he's ever been & sometimes you have to look at how he is marked. If Mullers plays well, we win! Remember on the Eve of Canvey away what he gave us last term

Re: Mangy for Mullin?

spoke to quite a few halifax fans in the bar after the game (as many of you know I have friends who have the miss fortune of being shaymen!!! ) and every single one of them said that mullin was our best player on monday, and how his sheer work rate and ability to make himself a complete nuisance more than anything else will win us the title.

I agree mullers hasn't been at his best lately but he came into the season so fit that everyone else had to catch up!

I honestly don't think the mango boco front pairing would work against most conference defences, mango's just not strong enough aerialy to hold the play up.

And whoever suggested david brown could hold play up hasn't been watching!!! The guy has headed the ball TWICE so far this season, once to make a goal line clearance and once to score and both of these were in the same game!!!!

The most valid point I can make on the subject of Paul Mullin is this :-

Goals scored by Mullers :- 5
Goals scored by other strikers :-
3 boco
4 mangan
Goals scored by midfielders :-
7 roberts
7 craney
7 brown
6 jaggers
Goals scored by defenders :-
2 cav
1 rocky
1 welch

Mullers has turned into the leagues top provider whilst getting a few himself, granted mullers hasn't set them all up but he's invaluable to us in holding play up and his distribution is getting better and better, if not for him knocking the ball down the midfield wouldn't be scoring half as many!

PS if the stats aren't right blame confguide!!!

Re: Mangy for Mullin?

i suggested David Brown. And I agree that he is crap in the air as I stated in my post. I think that with the ball played in to feet he can play a similar game to Mully but we would have to play through the middle on the ground a lot more to use him effectively. I have also previously stated that I think Mully is our best and most underrated player and we would not be where we are now without him.

Then why would you suggest he needs a 'kick up the arse'?? David Brown cannot hold a candle to Paul Mullin either in the air or in any other capacity and for me has been a big disappointment, he tires too easily so cannot play a full 90 minutes. Mully is doing a brilliant job - leave him alone

Got to agree with Peel Park Ghost on this one. Resting Mullin and playing Mangan in the middle with Boco will add some variation to Stanley's game. They look a far better team when they keep the ball on the ground and pass it upfield, rather than the ceasless high balls aimed towards Mullin, which explains why he is marked as he is. Granted he does win a fair proportion of these high balls but who does he head them to? The opposition defence. Time for a rest.
