Re: Mansfield (A) League Cup Match Thread
Well that didn't go thrillingly well, did it? But at least Charlton lost 3-0 at MK Pretend-Wimbledon, so they won't be on a high either ...........

Hardly, they played there u23s with 1 first team player.
4 of them made their pro debuts from the start with another 3 pro debuts of the bench.
Charltons first team had a good rest in preparation for the weekend.

Re: Mansfield (A) League Cup Match Thread
The view from one of the more neutral Mansfield fans in attendance was our goalkeeper isn’t good enough for league 2, hence why he hardly played last season.
He also reckons 2 of the defenders clearly lacked any match sharpness and where constantly 2nd to the ball.
He also thinks Zanzala isn’t good enough for league 2, he lacks composure and his movement is too static for someone who’s game is getting in behind, which again based on the evidence we have seen last season and this season seems a fair enough assessment.
Zanzala is young enough to improve but with Mangan as the only alternative alongside Kee, do we need another striker option?

Re: Mansfield (A) League Cup Match Thread
I think the team we put out last night showed that we weren't really bothered about doing well in this competition,no disrespect to the lads who played but most have had hardly any game time yet & it showed.
I've no problem with playing a young inexperienced side to see what they can do but if I'd travelled to Mansfield & paid £20 to watch I might feel differently

Re: Mansfield (A) League Cup Match Thread
I think you are being far too kind Accymad. When your chance comes you take it or get left behind.
I've no problem with losing - that happens - but 6-1 cannot be described as just losing.
If anything has come out of last night its the lack of depth in the squad.
What worries me the most is the injuries as well.
If McConville and Finlay are worse than thought ..........
We've thankfully resolved the keeper issue but we are desperate for two forwards a commanding old fashioned centre half and a midfielder with guile.
It was painful to watch last night.

And JC , in his post-match interview seems to feel very much the same Di ! ...
As to the fans who must have suffered throughout the game and who must be applauded for their loyalty. The journey home must, as we both have known in the past , have seemed even worse !... well done to 'em !.
Better things on Saturday ?... 😎
ON STANLEY !... ON TO GREATER THINGS !.

the only problem is that we are in division 1 so that makes the mansfield fans comments even more serious. going to be a long hard season unless we sign better as for me the players that have been brought in seem typical division 2 signings. i for one expected better.

Re: Mansfield (A) League Cup Match Thread
Apart from 8-2 at Peterborough in Season 2007/8 can anyone think of as bad or worse defeat since the club re-formed? I can't off hand.
