Re: match thread v Rotherham
Thought we could have better capitalised on our many nice build ups if people had been more selfish and had a go themselves rather than passing it wide when well placed to have a go themselves.
First half Billy Kee found himself similarly placed to his first youth cup goal at Chelsea. Though he was a few yards out I expected him to turn on a sixpence and bury it in the Rotherham net as he did on that occasion. Instead he put the ball out wide to Bobby Grant. Rotherham got more time and the move produced no result.

Re: match thread v Rotherham
Double substitution of Grant and Kee near the end Grant looked to be hobbling. Does anyone know how bad it was?

Re: match thread v Rotherham
Shame stanley didn’t manage to score while dominating in the first half.
Considering rotherham are tipped for promotion we didn’t do too badly. I noticed that Kee and mullin where sometimes both trying to win the headers rather than playing as one unit, but they will form a partnership after playing and training together. The goalie also looked good!
Is Mullin or Miles the permanent captain?

There is no way Stanley should have left that stadium without at least a point.
That will have been Stanley's best performance at their ground.
Yet Stanley garnered 4 points from the previous games when they never quite reached today's heights.

Re: match thread v Rotherham
With about ten minutes to go Coley made a double substitution, Turner for Grant and Symes for Kee. Why didn't he take off either a striker or midfielder and bring on a defender, maybe then we could have gained a point and still be unbeaten. Not long after the substitution Rotherham scored. Then with only seconds left Coley took off King and brought on McConville, why I do not know. Usually when there are only seconds left the team in front make a substitution just to waste time.

Re: match thread v Rotherham
Just got back, via various hostelries disappointed but not too downhearted. Not much to add, as the other chaps have said it all really, but I'm more convinced than ever that we have the makings of a really good team here. Think they just need a chance to "gel" together more. Some of the passing was a joy to watch. As Haggis says, Billy Kee is going to be a star, and Martin is a sound pair of hands.
Don't worry...it's going to be a good season!

Grant had had an injury. It was Kee's debut and he had worked very hard. Coley thought fresh legs might bring a win. Defensively Symes' height was potentially a big plus though I think Gary King might have been who I would have gone for getting the elusive goal.
Billy Kee has a great first touch - the mark of any good striker.

Re: match thread v Rotherham
How desperately unlucky can you get? From the radio coverage I heard we were very unlucky to end up losing but have to say that after all the off season stuff and the negative predictions from the press I'm very encouraged by this performance against a team that are one of favourites for promotion this season. Let's hope the team can take on Walsall with same confidence and get a result. I'm going for 2-0 win .Ryan from a set play and Kee to score on home debut. Cart on !

If you think so; then I will take heart and rest easy.
It is a new team and it will take a few games to gel. On Stanley On.

If you don't deliver the knock outs when you have the other side on the ropes there is always the danger they will deliver you a sucker punch later on and that's what happened. Simple as. Rotherham did what they are paid for. We just need to learn from the bitter experience and make sure it is not allowed to happen again.

Re: match thread v Rotherham
Um. I'm thinking of tracking our scores at 85 minutes to see what difference it would make if games were 5 mins shorter - at least +10 points last season I reckon .....

Oh no we haven't:
Millers' fans' site indicates that deal has foundered on remuneration package.

Re: match thread v Rotherham
According to Millers' fans' thread the 3254 attendance included 120 from Accrington.

Re: match thread v Rotherham
My first game this season having not gone to the pre season and i was very pleased at the football we played and the players we brought in seem to be very good! out keeper martin i hope we can keep him for longer he played really well, grant stood out for me he played well and went close to scoring, ryan played well, and kee, defence looked solid just we switched off for 2mins and they scored! Craig Lindfield was in the away end watching Stanley! Maybe we will have him soon since he got relased by Liverpool i think.
