Re: maybe a longest thread title ever for a todays match might inspire a first away g
I'll leave the performance comments to the folk that actually went (work dictated that I couldn't get there), however that to me,feels like two points lost rather than a point gained....
In my humble opinion.......Yet again Coley's reluctance to dabble with substututions comes to the fore. At 2-0 up we should be looking to close the game out...Yes.. we've solved the scoring away from home problem, but as Dan pointed out in commentary, maybe the "defensive gremlins" are showing signs of resurfacing. Maybe a switch of formation and injection of fresh blood may have secured the points tonight ??? Anybody who went please feel free to comment.
The commentary sounded like we just plugged on with what we had and then made a move once things turned a bit pear shaped????
Despite it feeling like two points lost, if we can win at home to the Gills on Saturday it might not seem such a bad point, but looking at the next two fixtures after the Gills (which are tough...Bury away and Rotherham at home) it makes Saturday a must win if we're to keep pace with the early pace setters. And winning at home to the Gills is by no means a gimme !!!!

Got talking to two Stockport fans on the bus back to Manchester - they both thought we deserved to win it. Raving about Jimmy Ryan.

I must admit i think redraine has got it pretty much spot on.
Substitutions changed the match, jimmy ryan was limping for a good 15 minutes, indeed after making 3 late substitutions proccy was left on and he was struggling to walk !!! , but then again the manager knows his players inside out and i would never critise his decisions

Taken from Stockport messageboard.
"Agree on Ryan, he looked really mobile and took up some good positions.
Funny how Simpson's two footed tackle on him changed the game as we scored a few seconds later then got another as he limped about the pitch."
Just about covers it!.

Re: maybe a longest thread title ever for a todays match might inspire a first away g
hi guys, just wanted to add a County thought to the match last night . . . i thought you guys were very much the better team and played some excellent stuff . . . once you had sorted out the long range shooting practice is was only a matter of time until you scored (which i predicted prior to the match )
The idiots after the game were just pathetic and I have said the same on our messageboard
Stockport County Supporters Messageboard
No place in the game in my opinion . . . and for me Accy is one of my best away trips and I wouldn't miss it for the world . . . good luck with the rest of the season guys, seriously you won't be near the drop zone come the end of the season, once you've got the scoring bit sorted lol you'll defo be pushing the playoffs or better . . . not sure if you've heard our managers post match comments? if not here you go, quite complimentary . . .

oh forgot to say . . . your fans were excellent last night, never stopped singing, drumming etc . . . not easy to generate in the Railway End without a roof and i've only seen Wycombe do it convincingly . . . but they did bring 1500 for the play off semi final lol . . . whatever your attendance last night they were a credit to you guys and earn their name as 'fans' . . . unlike the ******* barrating your fans after the game . . .

Excellent performance by Ryan again last night but feel for his own sake he should have been substituted as he could barely walk late on. Subs came on far too late (5mins from time) when it was obvious certain players were struggling and contributing nothing to the game. Why leave it until the opposition score to add new legs. Roll on Gills on saturday.

Dear Cashman , I very rarely sit on the fence ! ,but i find it hard to critise a manager who has built a new team,a new system of play and turned a team of midgets( jimmy bell not me !) into such a good defensive unit.
The substitutions arguement will rage on but he used to get it pretty much spot on with billy kee etc... OK i admit to sitting on the fence on this !!!

Re: maybe a longest thread title ever for a todays match might inspire a first away g
well for me two pts lost, but also ref was a joke for half of it, some seriously disturbing tackles that were let off!!
Also subs left far too late when we had players on the pitch obviously struggling
As for the stewards, they started off pretty zealous but gave up
Then there were the stockport idiots outside the ground, basically just kids trying to goad a reaction and the stewards response.... thats not our job!!!!
Kids I could handle but a grown man shouting in my face riled me and I retracted back to childhood and reacted in a very none red way...oops, sorry accymad and shaker and of course my son who gave me a good telling off

Cheers for that, although your stewards tried their best to stop the drumming by attempting to confiscaste the drum, claiming that the drum beat was the cause of some of our fans refusing to sit down ....must've though he was the flamin' Pied Piper

Re: maybe a longest thread title ever for a todays match might inspire a first away g
spent the 1st half next to out dugout (before being asked to move at half time due to getting on my seat to celebrate the goal - stockport fans didnt appreciate it HAHA)
We controlled the game 1st half, they did have 1 very good chance which their striker managed to side foot wide of the post from 4 yards out; but other than that we should really have been 3 nil up. We missed some very good chances and their keeper made some good saves (did i mention the Jmmy Ryan thunderbolt on to the bar?).
Second half (now in our end),
they upped their tempo and pressed us more, their strikers dropped deeper and got involved, crowding the midfield. But we still looked the more likely.
Gornell was frustrating for me, yes he scored the tap in for the 2nd goal, but he was up against a poor centre half in Assoumani and should really have troubled him more.
Gornells movement wasnt that good either, I just thought he loked blunt (the opposite of sharp) and was still finding his feet. Im still to be convinced he is a 20 goal a season striker, but im sure JC will give him time to prove himself.
Lindfield, despite his finishing limitations would have been a better starting option IMO, we needed someone to get into those defenders.
A shame to settle for a draw, but it seemed inevitable when the 1st goal went it, stanley looked tired towards the end and our left flank was vunerable.
If we had a target man we would be contenders this season, I am sure JC is fully aware and is looking out for one, we are not far away.
But well done to JC and JB, some of our passing and ball retention last night was sublime, the stockport fans where amazed.
Give them contracts.

Re: maybe a longest thread title ever for a todays match might inspire a first away g
Absolutely gutted we didnt come away with 3 points.
Dominated the game for 70 minutes and still concede 2 goals.
Lack of subs in my humble opinion where to blame, Gornell and Mcconville in particular looked shattered after 70 mins aswell as Ryan playing with a big knock. No doubt we should have made the changes THEN, and not after they are flying pushing for goals.
But its another away point which we cant moan about.
Ryan yet again was magnificent, fingers crossed we can keep hold of him after January. Proctor had his best game of the season so far and scored a great goal.
Roll on the Gills on Saturday.
