McGivern sent off for reserves

Straight red for violent conduct (headbutt), so I presume that's a three match ban, Leam was booked as well.

Dsane played full 90 mins, looked as though he needed game, can't be too far off. McGrail also did full 90 mins and looks good, wants to be involved. Brown and Edwards should be involved in the 1st team squad before others on tonight's performances, french triallist played first half only.

Evil? Played second half and ran about without really getting anywhere. When we got him back, I trawled various sites for info and came across an interview with him where he said, "it could be Christmas before I'm back to my best." Thought that was a bit silly at the time, but he could well be right.

The goal, sweet left footed shot into top corner from 35 yards by Bobby Grant, goalie didn't move.

The match as a whole? Better than watching England.

Re: McGivern sent off for reserves

Couldn't believe it when I heard last night what Leighton had been sent off for - I mean for him to make contact with a headbutt we'd have had to be playing Chester Under 12's! Apart from that it sounds so out of character, does anyone know if red cards in the reserves carry through to the first team?
And as for it being better than watching England - I can well believe that

Re: McGivern sent off for reserves

I spoke to someone who spoke to leighton last and leighton swears blind he didn't touch him. I can't say coz I wasn't there, but one thing I will say is nowadays you don't have to touch them you only have to show intent.

It doesn't seem like a leighton thing to do though, I know he's a little terrier tough guy, but to headbutt someone he'd need to borrow step ladders or a trampoline!!!

The laws of the game have always stated intent is part of the rule as much as actual. If you know a ref ask him

Before he went head to head with the Chester player Leighton kicked out at him and connected, the liner saw it and called the ref over and he sent him off. I don't think Leighton can deny that, I saw it and Kipax saw it.

Re: McGivern sent off for reserves

I was stood with Kipax when it happened and it was clear to see from our view-pont. Leighton appeared to kick out after the ball had gone. That is what he we thought he was sent off for. The head-to-head incident came after after the kick. It is a shame because he was having a good game until then.

Re: McGivern sent off for reserves

From what I have been told, it was 'that kind of game', and the lad who had been accosting leighton all game had it coming.

I know it's the 'quo' to say it, but chester came with one thing in mind, heavy handed tactics with a lot of brutality on the side.

Anyways, a screamer from Bobby lad and all 3 points in the bag.

Waddabout evil late on aswell? Nowt like a friendly nudge or 2...
