Re: Michael Symes
The small club scenario will always come into it yes but it was a no lose situation if he had signed a contract when it was offered in january, instead now its obvious that he wont do and will be allowed to leave on a free transfer.
Hes a typical modern day player with no commitment, he owes us AT LEAST one more season after giving him the football he has played, and who knows that this one season he has been good wasnt just a flash in the pan? he doesnt exactly have a proven goalscoring record anywhere else... i know anybody would probably move higher with the chance of more money etc but i dont know weather he could be a league 1 player never mind championship, we have all seen how good he is when he wants to play, but when hes not really interested e.g last few games (like most of players) he doesnt look anything special at all

Re: Michael Symes
If he goes then he goes, Mullers went and non of us thought that we would find someone to do the job, yet King Coley found Symes, so I have every confidence that Coley will do what he has to do for us next season!!!
As for Symes, he owes us nowt, but I still feel he could have signed an extension in January, which may have helped us get a few ££££ and would not have put clubs off putting in offers.

Re: Michael Symes
I'd much rather see Symes leave on a free than our club bending over backwards, offering wages we can't afford (as we have done before) to try and keep him.
It would be great if Symes showed some gratitude for the faith shown in him by John Coleman and stayed at the club in a reasonable deal for both parties, but I doubt that'll happen.
Many people are of the opinion that he's been playing with his head turned for a while now and if he doesn't want to be here, he should leave at the end of the season.
As others have said, Coleman is obviously talented enough to seek an adequate replacement.

Re: Michael Symes
it's such a shame for him because I think his career will go backwards from here onwards. He is a good target man at this level and has bags of ability to hold the ball or play the ball. Sadly for him I think that League 1 is not that much better in terms of ability but it is in terms of fitness and physical ability. I reckon he'll be marked out of the game by players who can get to the ball quicker than him.
And when he moves on I hope he does go to Rochdale. Dagnall and O'Grady are both better players than him and he will struggle to hold down a regular spot.
Playing at a club like Stanley gives you the opportunity to be a legend - moving around every time a better offer comes in gives you the chance to become a journeyman.

Have to agree with most of your post Macca
But also would add that on one hand you have to weigh up that a footballers career can be a possibly short and maybe opportunities do have to weighed up when they come along but they also have to be balanced against the chance of actually starting games regulary or just bench warming and becoming a regular in a higher league Club's reserve team.

Re: Michael Symes
Stanley gave him his chance to play league football this season when nobody else wanted him!! and the management have turned him in to the player he is today when no one else wanted to no,and all the thanks JC & JB and the club gets is im biding my time in stead of repaying stanley by signing a extention to his contract and giving the club a chance of a transfer fee

Re: Michael Symes
Too bad if he goes...good luck to him.. Personally, I can't see how he owes Stanley anything, as surely his goals are payment enough?
