Re: Monday at Oaklea

Just a reminder that this meeting is tomorrow night at 7:30pm in the Oaklea Tavern.

This is a meeting for anybody who would like to offer their services to the Exhibition particularly with recording of memories. The meeting should take no longer than an hour and we will be going through various aspects of what we would like to acheive with the recordings. Once we have firm names of people who would like to help we can then start setting dates for interviews to take place. We will try to allocate interviews close by to where you live as that would be the easiest way of reaching as wide an audience as possible.

And above else, it is an excuse for a monday night drink!

Re: Monday at Oaklea

Macca, why are we not using the clubhouse for this meeting. Surely funds for the club are a better way of supporting Stanley than using the Oaklea??????

Re: Monday at Oaklea

Generally the steering group meetings have been held regularly at the Oaklea anyway, & the volunteers meeting is following on into that meeting, which is why it is held there. The OSC exhibition has booked the clubhouse for the 19th for the launch - so has effectively put money back into the club & will do on the day too.

So why haven't the steering group meetings been held in the Clubhouse ? Why put money into the Oaklea instead of Stanley ?

Re: Monday at Oaklea

for the clubhouse to be opened up for half a dozen people for a couple of hours isn't cost effective. It is also far too large for our particular requirements.

The OSC meetings are held in the clubhouse but have come close to being moved for reasons amongst others as a)not enough people attending to make worthwhile for staff b) very cold but again not worth putting heating on all day for a dozen folk c) lack of being able to get a drink.

Where we can we will support the club but they would be losing money or resource for us to use for steering group meets

Re: Monday at Oaklea

furthermore the Oaklea last year spent about a grand and a half on advertising at the ground, they also sponsor the OSC and provide OSC members with discounted beer on matchdays

The Crown usually have either a pool team at home or a quiz on a Monday night. Therefore, the function room at the Oaklea will be more suitable due to its size & lack of noise from the regulars.
