More credit when due.

We have slagged off the programme for years, when we had the fiver programme on tuesday we dare not hope it would be of similar quality but it was, I only read it briefly over somebodys' shoulder but it looked really good. And the middle page pullout was utter quality.

It just doesn't quite compare to the Ultras Fanzine though

Re: More credit when due.

The Programme is excellent. Well done to all those involved. I haven’t seen Tuesdays yet but I think it’s going to be worth waiting for, just hope I won’t be waiting long. I like the profiles up front. Maybe this could be extended to include the staff behind the scenes and the volunteers. Anyone who didn’t get one is missing out. This is a quality item, worth having.

Plus, it will become collectable as the program for the game where Stanley gained their first league points and scored therir first leagur goals in 44 years

Apparently according to Radio Lancs that is the first home league win since 14th October 1961 nearly 45 years!!!!

Re: More credit when due.

The programme is better than it was, but Saturday's programme for the Barnet game had the same pictures in it as the Darlington programme also (unless I had a few pages missing) there was no mention of Barnet, no history or any player profiles, and on the fixtures page the results read Chester 2-0 and Darlington 0-2, very confusing for people who do things the right way round.

Re: More credit when due.

Ok, on behalf of those of us who contribute to the the programme (for nowt I might add) I feel I have to defend against the criticisms made.

Karen does the job of programme editor in addition to all of her other roles at the club, in her own free time. Each of the pages is individually formatted by her with no help from anyone else.

As a result, with an extremely prohibitive print deadline (Wednesday after we played on the Tuesday night!) some of the pictures were indeed the same.

As for the away side section, once again we rely completely on the team concerened to send their profiles and details through (in the past we have tried to do it ourselves and got details wrong which doesn't go down well with visitors!!) Barnet didn't send anything, and so nothing went in.

And as for the scores, there is pedantic and then there is PEDANTIC.

I'm proud to be associated without the best quality publication this club has ever had. Karen is doing a remarkable job, and I can't believe that just a season ago we were paying just 50p less for a photocopied, drab offering.

I just thought I'd respond to your criticisms Jeff and try to explain some of the work that goes in.

I'm not having a go...

There is criticism and CRITICISM - I would like to think that my comments are constructive criticism and not slagging off criticism.

I would have thought that anyone reading the fixtures and results in a Stanly programme who saw - Chester away score 2-0 - would automatically think that Stanley won 2-0, if they saw the score 0-2 they would automatically think that Stanley lost 2-0. As far as I see it I am neither being pedantic nor PEDANTIC, I am just stating a fact that it could give people the wrong impression - CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM.

Re: More credit when due.

Oh dear
I said I wasn't having a go. I was trying to be light hearted!!!!!!

I've forwarded all of your points onto Karen, and we (the programme team) hope to address your points in time for future programmes (e.g. Forest)

The score thing has come about because they are copied from the Football League, who put home scores first. Hence Chester being first.

I dunno about u Jeff, but at 4 o clock in the morning (the time when programmes are generally completed!!!!) stuff like putting the scores the right way round don't get noticed.

If my previous post was misinterpreted as snotty, then I apologise. I just wanted to try and answer the constructive comments you made.

So sorry

Re: More credit when due.

No offence taken Dan. I only make these points to try to help, I don't want opposition supporters to take the p**** out of us. I know we are on a learning curve and we have a lot to learn, but if we can rectify mistakes when they are found and make sure that they don't happen again then we are learning from our mistakes. The less we do wrong then the less chance there is for the oppostion supporters to criticise us and run us down.

Re: More credit when due.

Judging by the other programmes we looked at as research (League 2 right up to Championship) the Darlington programme was in terms of quality and quantity one of the best.

But we appreciate owt u notice, and like I said, I've forwarded the stuff to Karen.

Plans for the Forest programme are already in motion

Re: More credit when due.

I also noticed that some of the graphics were over-stretched, which led to pixelisation. Again, not negatively crticising, but one page was so bad it was unreadable (a stats page).
Now to be pedantic. The aspect ratio of the Doherty picture on the front cover was all wrong, again due to stretching.

Programme overall was much better by the way.
