Re: Morecambe Game
You just about edged it last night, so no complaints from me other than the constant moaning at the referee from JC. He's doing nobody any favours there.
However, how can you survive as a club who want to go places on a gate of 1400? 350 of which were made up of MFC supporters, both behind the goals, in the stand and down part of the side.
Your gates are now considerably less than your days in the Uni Bond and the Conf.
Does your village actually want a football league club?

Re: Morecambe Game
350? Are you sure?
Sounded more like 50.

*esus...don't make it any worse than it is.
Seriously I know that the wonderful EW is Mr Accy Stanley through and through, but even he must question from time to time wether it's all worth it.
The financial muscle of some of the teams in the league make clubs like ours very much the poor relations. Even our recent bids totalling £310,000 were not enough to secure the services of 2 players both with clubs in our league. And even though that money and more is avaialble to our manager this close season to re-build the team it begs the question are the over inflated fees of Championship players now filtering down to our basement level?

Re: Morecambe Game
I think that we can be justifiably proud of what we acheive with little or no financial muscle. I'd love to see what we could do if we had a rich benefactor looming on the horizon ....
but back to last night, when we played at you gaffe earlier this season I thought our away following was pathetic ...until last night

But the one that we have can. it would appear, take Morecambe.F.C. to the cleaners whenever they feel like it. t'Stanley gave you a Footballing lesson at Christie Park, and last night found the right shape and the right spirit, as the game went on, to nullify Twissy and Co and put the wind up
Jim Bentley and his panicky defence!.
As for the 'Morecambe Travelling Faithful', either they began to suffer from
Coppice End Exposure, or just accepted that our 'Reds' were better than your 'Reds' on the night !...The evidence being that after Andy Mangan's goal, there was nothing but a deafening silence to be heard from the Coppice End and the Pit!....and, as you know, the Ultras and our Faithful few, never stop singing until well after the final whistle blows. This contrast must tell you something about the quality of the respective fan base !. But then we are 'the Club that would not die!'
So, I'm glad to see that you accept last night' result, as the right one,
however grudgingly it seemed to appear!.
Good luck to 'the Shrimps'...Hope they make the play-offs !....
'WHAT ME WORRY ?' 'ON STANLEY !...ON !' (To Rochdale!).

Re: Morecambe Game
Got to agree with Tin Monkey on this one, we weren't really working until Craney had to go off, Ian's no striker and he'd probably be the first to say so. Having said that, the lads battled well in the 2nd half & fully deserved the win and although I wasn't exactly struck on the idea of Kempson coming back I have to admit he played well last night. Chuffed to bits that Mully scored, bring on the Dale

Depeche!!!.....This is a straightforward and relevant posting, and if no one else will congratulate you on it's contents and style, then I will!!
Sean Webb appeared to find it difficult getting off the ground for high balls and you could see his frustration at losing out on 50/50 challenges !. His work on the ground though was good, and he used the ball a lot better when making clearances. Darren Kempson did what he does best...STOP 'EM !..and it worked, as 'Twissy's' involvement in the game fizzled into nothing as the second half went on!.
But what about Aswad's tireless running, tackling and passing ?.
He's got a good 'engine' and no mistake!..Hope we can keep hold of him!
Can't make Rochdale !...but I look forward to your thoughts on the game !
( and leave Coley alone!!)

Re: Morecambe Game
Superb all over last night, on the pitch and on the terraces. Moments like last night are what this crazy game is all about and emphasise why this special little club of ours is so fantastic!!!

It certainly is. It needs to be more widely appreciated.
