Their scorer, Tollitt shouldn’t have been on the field after his swipe at Aljofree.
But I really, really do not like or understand the let’s-not-use-substitutes-and-let’s-get-pinned-down-in-our-own-half-the last 20 minutes-tactics.

Re: Morecambe Match Thread Sat 5th October 2024
Well, imho, that was the worst performance from two teams I’ve watched this season. But if that’s what it takes to win, so be it!
Both teams playing too much hoof ball, head tennis, and play acting - no wonder they are holding up the other 90 league clubs.
Penalty would’ve got 9.8 at a diving competition, but well done to ‘Elvis’ for converting it.
The second was a result of the kind of defensive shambles that has more recently been Stanley’s forte. But, again, well taken by ‘Elvis’.
Morecambe’s goal was the one bit of class all day - a perfect curling free kick just beyond young Crellin’s leap.
But, in the circumstances, the result is all that mattered and well done to Stanley for holding on and breaking that hoodoo.

Re: Morecambe Match Thread Sat 5th October 2024
The Clayton End atmosphere v Morecambe was just amazing! Well done to Jase and his team for the new banners. The SU sang, drummed and blew horns for the full 96 minutes and beyond. The whole team certainly responded to the wonderful support and to John Doolan’s calls to fight and fight continuously. Stanley fully deserved the three points but I have to pay respect to the quality of the Morecambe goal from the free kick. We all went home buzzing after that. Let’s have more please!🥰🎺🇦🇹🇧🇭🎶

Re: Morecambe Match Thread Sat 5th October 2024
Great win from Stanley yesterday. Played some good football mixed in with a real battle at the Wham Stadium. You can only play the team in front of you and Stanley tried to play football against a "hoofball" Morecambe side, who just tried to break up play and relied on set pieces and long throws into our box.....great free-kick by the way but otherwise the worst team I've seen at home all season.....Well played Stanley!.......a must win game that we proved we had enough quality to win against an "ugly difficult conference quality" outfit.......Three points yesterday was all that really mattered we mixed it up, matched their physicality and showed some quality on the ball.......my only regret we didn't score more....

Re: Morecambe Match Thread Sat 5th October 2024
Postscript.....a mention for young Aljofree on his debut....started slow but grew into the game....based on that performance he looked assured on the ball and kept it simple....I like him.....also Crellin in goal...came for crosses either catching or punching well clear of his area, was a difficult afternoon for him against Morecambe's giants but he stuck to his task and looks less nervy than Kelly when dealing with an aerial bombardment.....
